  • Stephen Cloobeck reads Street Talk (and TS4Ms)

    and he posts comments.

Of course, there's nothing new about Sunterra monitoring the web. Several years ago when we were staying in Ka'anapali and I posted some negative comments about the resort at TUG, I got a call in my room from the Ka'anapali resort manager.
“Maybe you shouldn't dress like that.”

“This is a blouse and skirt. I don't know what you're talking about.”

    “You shouldn't wear that body.”

About all you can really say is someone using the name Stephen Cloobeck posts on Street Talk. I'm not certain that if I were running a large company that I'd be taking the time to read and post comments on a blog. But then again maybe he does.

I would hope that it was him, I would also expect that someone else in his employ is trolling the internet and points him to it!

I agree with Spence. If it wasn't him, then I'm sure he would have (found out about it from an employee and) asked for the comment to be deleted. Besides, it *sounds* like something he would do.

I personally monitor sites so I can connect with the owners and members worldwide. More CEO's should do the same. It's my goal to create a top down consumer centric timeshare experience. It's going to take a lot of work, but we have made tremendous progress at the old Sunterra....soon to be Dimamond Resorts International. I welcome your fellow bloggers to e mail anytime.

                  PS...Love your site.

Well, Stephen, if it is you, you might want to start by cleaning up your own house at Polo Towers and communicate with owners. You certainly haven't connected with us for a LONG time.

For instance, exactly when does DRI plan on notifying owners that the owners lounge was closed? I received your sales letter for the SunOptions conversion so I know you have my address. I've also kept in touch with Troy via E-mail and I know you have my E-mail and home mailing address, yet not a single word has been communicated concerning the closing of an amenity HEAVILY sold during sales tours.

If it is you then why was it closed to owners and not converted into something owners could use? Maybe move the convenience store to the 19th floor and put in a deli/coffee shop preserving that famous view your staff sold on tours. Maybe something a little more like the upscale developers like Marriott or Hilton manage to provide to their owners.

While we're here, how about the MF's your charging owners but only placing a miniscule amount (less han $50) into reserve's, making that large special assessment neccessary just to keep PT's up to industry standars. PT's MF's are higher than my Hilton owership's MF for the same size unit in a much nicer resort, yet Hilton places over $100 into reserves to maintain the resort.

If it is you Mr. Cloobeck explain why you quit communicating with owners? Whay ever happened to Hoof Beats? How about E-mail, your sales staff could find me via E-mail. How about phone calls? Your sales staff seems to have my number. The ONLY way I get any information about Polo Towers is if I'm there asking questions or E-mailing CS or Troy and even then it's hit of miss with the accuracy of the resort.

Sorry guys, I don't believe this is Mr. Cloobeck. To come onto a site and brag up DRI when DRI's track record with managing PT's and being ejected as the management company by Jockey Club owners is not believable to me.

On the other hand, if he really wants to prove himself he can always give me a call. I know you sales staff has my number and I'm not exactly transparent. He should be able to find me just from my log on name here. I know Craig with I.I. was able to easily track me down from their records when I pointed out holes in their cruise exchange program. We had a nice productive call and he actually learned a couple of things from a members perspective that he wasn't aware of from I.I. prespective.

I can't say I'm a 100% dissatisfied owner. After all I recently converted my Villa's and Suites week's to SunOptions with Rick Peterson as my rep. I suppose you could ask Rick for my phone number. He may remember that my wife Shelley has that extra E in her name because we had to redo the paperwork. I still haven't recieved my membership number but it hasn't been a full 30 days yet. They've got until the 29th for that which is the day we signed our corrected form.

What I can say is that DRI has been anything BUT the best management company of the 7 timeshares we own. In fact they've been the WORST at communicating with owners. I've come to the conclusion that owners are the least important part of DRI unless DRI wants me to spend more money with them. Then and only then do they seem to be able to find me.

Sorry, I'm just not buying that this is Mr. Cloobeck but is someone who has a desire to pretend to be someone important. Time will tell. I'm easy to find for anyone connected with DRI. Especially if you're the owner of the company. Of course if you're an imposter it might be a little tougher for you to get in touch with me either by direct mail, phone or my personal E-mail and not the secondary account I use to keep SPAM and Phising scheme's off my main account. I just do not believe this guy is real. Just a scammer that likes to pretend on the Street Talk Blog and furthering the charade on forums like this.

Then again, if it is Mr. Cloobeck I'll be more than happy to eat my words and post a full apology for doubting it is him. But I still want to see improvements made from how Polo Towers has been managed these last 5 or 6 years.

Thanks for checking in Stephen. We're happy to have you as a member. Please give me a call, I'm staying at Flamingo Beach right now, Dick Belair has been very nice, haven't met the manager yet, maybe tomorrow. We all hope that you live up to all the hype and promises we've heard (p.s. they still have bedspreads here at Flamingo Beach, no duvets). As Doug mentioned above, there's not a lot of great feedback from Polo owners here and on other timeshare forums.

I had posted something of a long winded responce but, I see Spence edited your post and states you are indeed Stephen Cloobeck.

I trust Spence so I humbly apologize for doubting you and I'm sorry that I apparently missed you phone number (assuming that's why Spence edited your post).

We'll be in Vegas from October 12th to October 19th. I'll be more than happy to buy you dinner, lunch or breakfast to apologize for doubting you and to figuratively eat my words.

I am pleased to see you posting and again are taking an active interest in timeshare developement. As many complaints as I've had over the last few years, things at Polo Towers seemed to be a little more owner oriented when you were active. I feel things dropped off when your attentions turned to other developments. Hopefully things will return to that warm fuzzy feeling we had when we first purchased, which gave us confidence to make a second purchase at Polo Towers within 12 months. If things return to how they were when we first purchased at Polo Towers I'll once again be a more than happy owner in the DRI/Club Sunterra family.

Stephen, at this moment, I am staying at Cypress Pointe, a great resort and the staff are very friendly.

After almost 10 years, I am a very satisfied Sunterra member. SunOptions brings me to different places in the world.

Three things I don't like about Sunterra:

                            1. Re-sale is extremely customer unfriendly. After reading this forum many times and getting advice from Spence, I still don't understand how it works.

                            2. SunOptions cannot be traded with independents. The corporate II account is great, but I would like to take advantage of opportunities from SFX and TPI.

                            3. European affilitation is the distinctive feature of Sunterra. Increased accessibility during warmer months in areas like London (too bad it is gone), Paris and Tuscany will be great.

                            Just my 2 cents.

I certain welcome Stephen, and other developers that may choose to post on this forum. I wish he could see fit to provide some more information on some major items that just don't seem to add up on the announcement on Carlton Court and Broome Park, which has the definite appearance of asset stripping. The loss of its only property in central London, one of the top travel destinations in the world, is a huge blow to Sunterra.
