I am so estatic - I can finally get into webRes to see availabilities and reservations for next year. Good way to end (well, it's only lunch time here) a Friday!!! Well, I still have to wait for my II membership, but that should be a short few days or weeks.

Glad your finally able to access the Webres system. I'm anxiously awaiting my account to go live so I can take it for a spin myself. I'm really wanting to make some direct comparisons between my individual account and the DRI/Sunterra coporate account as far as strength for exchanging within I.I.
That and I want to get use to how availablity works within the DRI/Sunterra system as far as making reservations and how far out I can see all area's for exchange. Our timeshare and other photo's at http://dougp26364.smugmug.com/

Have you booked anything yet? How about summer in Maui.
If you book it now, you can always cancel it within 60 days before check in. Cancellation can be done by phone only, not online.

Part of the fun so far is exploring how searches work and what-if's. so far, looking at my top three or four choices of resorts (all out west) and a few east (orlando, williamsburg, san martin-beautiful!, and south beach) - availabilities look very promising for next summer (excluding the latter part of Aug b/c I only 10-month window)
europe searches yielded NO hits for next summer. well i only tried paris, southern france, and that place cloobeck replaced the london place with (you know what I mean). Even the clock in whistler was no hits.
I may think about maui late 2008 see how things go. i am already going to be poor broke after our upcoming 2 weeks in oahu followed by D-land next JulyEMAIL me if you wish, do NOT PM

Vacation Internationale - Resort Locations
Club Sunterra claims all of these resorts in their directory. You've mentioned Clock Tower a resort with about 12-15 units. You will almost never see much availability for this in Club.
Other examples:
Sea Village contains 131 total units and the VI program includes 21 two-bedroom and 30 one-bedroom condominiums. So 51 units are available to VI and maybe some get to Club.
Steamboat, Villas de Santa Fe, Cypress Pointe are examples of where the VI trust bought units in Sunterra properties.
The three Sedona resorts that VI lists don't even show how many units they have. These are three resorts that Sunterra used to manage and you don't see much availability through Club.
What I'm saying is that MANY resorts in the Sunterra catalog have VERY limited availability that they don't really tell you about.... not enough time for all the timeshares ®

Wow, five of the 13 resorts I had interest in are either gone (Carlton Court) or on that map. I was pretty certain that Point Brown and Embarcadero would be very limited availability but I'm dissapointed to some degree that Villa's De Santa Fe and The Village at Steamboat Springs are also on that map.Our timeshare and other photo's at http://dougp26364.smugmug.com/

Still, if I never use it for more than going to Hawaii, St. Maarten, Lake Tahoe, Las Vegas and exchanges through I.I. I think we'll be all right. It's only been 4 months. It will be interesting to see what direction DRI takes over the next 2 to 4 years. Our timeshare and other photo's at http://dougp26364.smugmug.com/

Steamboat is a really odd case where Sunterra does not manage the resort, I think Wyndham has a majority of units. Sunterra has maybe one building maybe another(?) and out of that VI has 3 Studios, 4 1BRs and 8 2BRs. Exactly what that leaves Sunterra with, I don't know, they don't publish. But their inventories are separate.
Villas de Santa Fe is a Sunterra managed resort where VI came in and bought 17 1BRs and 1 2BR. So Sunterra has the whole resort except for that. Again their inventories are separate.
Try getting high season at Point Brown or Embarcadero through Sunterra, it might be possible, good luck! Must have more chance than Marina Inn where Sunterra doesn't even list it anymore as a possibility.... not enough time for all the timeshares ®

See what scanning a post gets me.
Glad to hear the Santa Fe is a Sunterra managed property and that they have a one or two of the Steamboat Springs resort.
As far as the NW coast is concerned, I doubt we'll try for high season, assuming high season is summer months. I'm thinking more springtime or fall for either of those locations. They're not high on my list but something to watch and wait for if I see it come along. Sunterra lists Point Brown as limited availability so I'm not expecting much on that one. Some things it might just be easier to do an external exchange through I.I. anyway.
Right now I'm mostly interested in having my account activated so I can fiddle around with it myself. I do better with learning hands on that reading about it (obviously). We have our 2008 vacations pretty much planned out so I really have plenty of time to tinker with the system, watch and see what pops up and when and figure out what works and what doesn't work for our schedule. One of the very nice things about not having kids in school is we can travel during shoulder or off season and don't mind doing it. The weathers not always perfect but the crowds are smaller and there's not as much compitition. Of course, sometimes what I think is shoulder of off season turns out to be high season. Then I just have to reload and replan it out again. That's all right, I enjoy the planning part as well as actually going on the vacations. Our timeshare and other photo's at http://dougp26364.smugmug.com/

Yes, I found this out by calling Suntera direct. The nice lady I spoke with was very straight fwd in explaining this. She even pulled up a secret 'green book' (or was it 'blue') that shows all the Sun properties and how many units/weeks were available to Sun members each year. Most of the Hawaiian ones were less than five/year according to her, which is pretty pathetic. How do you expect to grow your membership with the supply of goods is not there??? Shows a lot for the past mgmt of the company, doesn't it?
Anyways, I just made my first Sunterra reservations - six nights at the San Luis Bay Inn. Hope this pans out as we have somewhat more than avg standards when it comes to resorts. That's what 10 yrs of exchanging does to you!EMAIL me if you wish, do NOT PM
