Got my first email blast that didn't have Club Sunterra on it, only Diamond Resorts International. The recorded voices are all the same at the new DRI phone#.

$1500 per person? no thanks I'd rather do my exchange to a landbased resort - even if it's using the new fancy DRI colors
EMAIL me if you wish, do NOT PM

Cruises through most any timeshare organization or exchange company are almost never a good deal.

About the only time I've found them useful was with HGVC. Hilton, at least at the time, did not charge an exchange fee. There's been two years when we wanted to cruise and, taking the cruise vacation was going to leave us with to much timeshare time. We exchanged our HGVC unit and received a discount a few dollars short of what our MF was for that year. Since these were with Royal Caribbean, who no longer allows buld TA to discount room rates from what the company sets them at, it wasn't a horrible deal. It wasn't a great deal either but, for us, it worked out O.K.

I haven't explored the value of the Sunterra cruise exchange. I'm not impressed with the $100 processing fee so I doubt it will ever prove to be enough value to give it serious consideration.

          Spence,

I think by the first of the year you won't be seeing the Sunterra name anymore. I'm not certain if this is good or bad but, since there's some negativity associated with the Sunterra name due to past management, it may be a good way to get a fresh start with the new owner.

According to the boss, Mr Cloobeck, it's October for the US and November for Europe. I got my first reservation confirmation in a DRI envelope today, but the letterhead inside was still Club Sunterra. Must have run out of envelopes before paper.

Absolutely ! No deals whatsoever. Always much better deals elsewhere has been my experience.

Today's confirmations from headquarters came in Diamond Regalia, Envelope, Confirmation Letter, and Resort Info Sheet. All had the Diamond marque. But I also got a welcome letter from Kaanapali Beach Club and they're still using Sunterra paper.

                  Waste not, want not.

Mr. Cloobeck also mentioned Oct. and Nov. to me as well but, knowing how things go with delay's and other unforseen things, I figured I'd give it more time. Good to know that the roll out has started. It won't be long before the Sunterra name isn't anything more than a memory.

Heard that it was up for a little while on Saturday but that it was not up to speed so they took it back down. Anyone see it, I was involved with parent's 60th Anniv all weekend? Also phones are now being answered with recording that says Diamond Resorts and 'The Club.'

Don't know but the sunterra.com would get you there.

Apparently it won't be DRI.com. I tried that one last night and it's already taken by the Colburn family for their vacation blog. I suppose DRI could offer to purchase that particluar URL from it's current owner or go with Diamondresortsinternational.com, but that seems awfully long for a web site URL.
