  • A Points Conversion Dog And Pony Show

Here is, I hope, a simple question on the convoluted Sunpoints,/Trust issue.

We have owned at PP since early on and converted to points when the idea first came up. We subsequently told them what they could do with the idea of charging $10,000 to convert our deed to the trust. We have relatives who bought about the time we did as we referred them and they have kept the week 26 lockout as weeks. They want to convert to points and called Diamond and were quoted $9,000 plus $1,500 Maint. I said it sounded like the Trust. She called and was told they are offering her 4,000 points to bring her 11,000 to Elite level and that can only be done through the Trust. She was told to simply convert her weeks points is $3,000. I had recommended points to her as she and her family have trouble going away for a week and just want long weekends and they can do that without the trust. Any thoughts out there?

Wk26 converted to THE Club with an Assignment Agreement (owner keeps deed) should be worth 15,000 points all by its little lonesome (assuming PP means Powhatan). $3K to do this is not a bad deal. The maintenance fees would stay the same but there will be ~$154/year Club fee.

Unfortunately I misplaced my Directory so could not confirm that. All the on line links to the Sunoptions directory now deadend in the new Diamond home page. I can't think of any honest reason why a salesperson would send someone wishing to convert their red week to points a contract to buy 4,000 points to bring them up to elite status, telling them they have only 11,000 points with a C/D lockout for July Fourth week.

I have the directory saved as a PDF file if you want it. Things change and maybe they're only giving out 11,000 for that week, you know it is only FOJ half the time.

They will certainly try to get you to convert to Trust if your week has MF equivalent of less than 8
¢/pt and won't try that one if your mF is more than that.
