  • I Met Stephen Cloobeck Today

I took a tour at the Kaanapali Beach Club. Stephen Cloobeck is there right now, supervising the sales operations. He confirmed that he's back from his leave of absence, and has big things planned for DRI. . . .

Cool. I'm there in two weeks time. I wonder if he'll still be there then.

Any reccomendations in which unit to request for our stay? We have an oceanview unit booked. Are you able to do a scan of the resort layout?

This doesn't surprise me. He is a very hands on CEO.

Any other words of wisdom? Anything about what appears to be an affiliation with Raintree, an agreement with ResorTime, some sort of upper tier premium point system??
... not enough time for all the timeshares ®

I didn't ask. The salesman said that they had bought Raintree. I was surprised and said that I thought they had only affiliated. He told me that he did not really know, but that he just got a list of new affiliated resorts, and they were all Raintree resorts.

No recommendations. We didn't stay there (Unfortunately, we were at the Marriott). We just took a timeshare tour for $200 cash and a shave ice.

I should add that he was surprised that I had bought a 2-br. lockout at Polo Towers in February for ~$500, but justified as an aside to our salesman that there is no ROFR at the Suites at Polo Towers, only the Villas.

There's not ROFR at the Villa's either. We own both the Villa's and the Suites.

                The salesman said....
Until there's a press release we may not know the truth unless a Raintree owner gets propositioned for 'conversion.' TROG?

He just wants a reason to go to Maui! Anyways, I hope the bath towels fits him better this time around

There has been absolutely no mention of DRI in any context in any communications from Raintree.
“Maybe you shouldn't dress like that.”

“This is a blouse and skirt. I don't know what you're talking about.”

                    “You shouldn't wear that body.”

Then it sounds as if DRI might be using it's recipricol agreement with Raintree as the basis for these new resorts being added.

I wish I had saved the information provided to Polo Towers oweners when Raintree became an option for us. I'm pretty certain Raintree purchased a block of units at Polo Towers and Polo Towers owners were offered access to Raintree resorts through some agreement. There wasn't any cash involved but, none of the resorts thrilled us so I didn't really look at an offer that didn't interest me.

If they are using a recipricol agreement, then I believe that inventory to DRI owners will be very limited.

Just like the VI units currently listed in the Sunterra catalog as places we (Club members) can book. Yes, you can try booking, but good luck getting anything, with like 1-5 or so units at a resort for all DRI/Sunterra members to 'share'. This is a bunch of BS IMO.
