I attended a diamond presentation today in Sedona - after almost walking away, they offered to sell me 2500 points for $8600 (includes membership to The Club and II fees for life - also they offered to convert my 2 timeshares as follows - 2BR Red Week 13 at Indian Peak, Colorado (I paid 2000+ on resale) for 8000 pts, 1BR Westin Club Regina (I paid 2000+ on resale) for 6500 pts = total of 17000 pts for giving up my two weeks - IS THIS A GOOD DEAL? Please help with your suggestions. Are there better clubs to consider, we mostly like flexibility and access to hotels to exchange and not just in the US.

Unlike Hilton or Marriott you can't really use CLUB points for hotel stays. The price for 2500 points will of course increase, so you have to determine if those weeks are working for you, and if not then converting to CLUB might be the next step.
Hilton Grand Vacation Club has a 1 to 23 conversion so 3,500 HGVC points would be 80,000 Hilton Honor points, but most Hotels are 30,000 a night so the value for Hotels isn't good at all. I would assume others are close
17,000 Diamond points would make you silver elite which has a few extra perks; I paid $6,400 for 4000 points in April 2007 at Williamsburg, VA. In November 2007 I was offered 2000 points for $5,000 in Orlando so you need to determine if this is good move for you.

HGVC is also not very diverse and they will FEE you to death.

2500 for $8600 is very high.
To me it seems to be just a sale of a 2500 point contract with them dressing it up with the extra points you get only if you annually put your other weeks into Club Select. You will still have the deeds for your other weeks.
Its a retail sale.
You would get a better deal if you had resale Florida/U.S. Trust Collection point contracts or weeks from the resorts in the Florida/U.S. Trust Collection or Polo Towers to convert & join The Club.
We have found The Club point system to be great value on an annual usage basis. Our only regret is that we bought initially at retail from the Developer.
