  • Help!!! I Just Want To Leave!

I am so confused by it all...I have never used my points since april 2006...I feel like I was bullied into buying the points after a promise of 2 hours turned into us being kept there for 5 hours and missing half of our day at magic kingdom at disney. I then tried to make the best out of it by buying more points to make it worth while but now I just want to walk away!!!

    How can I?

when I bought form The Former Company the guy said we could end our contract at any time...now diamond say that I can't!

I don;t want to be forced into keeping points that I don't want...i don't even care if i don't get any money, I just want it off my shoulders asap.

    I have:

Club Sun (CSV1) Florida Trust = TOTAL POINTS PER YEAR 2,500
    Certificate 1: 2,500

Club Sun Vac 1 = TOTAL POINTS PER YEAR 14,000
    Certificate 1: 4,000
    Certificate 2: 4,000
    Certificate 3: 6,000

    AVAILABLE FOR 2008: 33,000 points

    AVAILABLE FOR 2009: 16,500 points

Can anyone give me some advice or help PLEASE!!!!!!!

You're Silver Elite, use your points and enjoy them! It's a great system even if some sour apple salesman dien't tell you the truth.

You want to sell them? Maybe 20cents/point on eBay.

      any advice?

I have been told that I can't sell them? To be honest I would happy to walk away. Can I do that?

I do not know what kind of member I am. I keep emailing and asking someone to help me and explain but no one ever answers me at all.

I just want to be done with it because if no one at sunterra/ diamond will help me work it out I would rather just let it go because I have been paying for something I am just not using.

I have been calling and emailing sunterra/diamond since January 2007!

What you have has value. You should be using it. If you'e paid in full, you can sell it. What you can't sell is your membership in THE Club, what you can sell is your CSV1 ownership. New owner can use the 19 resorts in the Trust but cannot use THE Club unless they pay to rejoin. If you want to discuss your problems with Diamond then write a detailed message to all of the addresses below. Tell them why you're unhappy and what you want, if you're paid in full, I'm sure they will take it back to resell it for around $30K.

You've come to the right place for advice. Whatever you do, don't give anyone $ up front to sell them for you.

eta: You should also be able to rent the points you have piling up... I know you just want out, but really, as Spence says, what you have is valuable and if you want to learn how you could use it for some great vacations.

            Good advice from all.

You have to apply yourself - a little effort will reap you some nice rewards. Try to work through your frustration which seems (if I may) to spring from a lack of knowledge in this matter. I'm sure you're a very savvy person in all your other areas.

"You can do it, we can help" !

There are some very wise folks on this site who will help direct you, but you have to ask yourself what you want; to learn the system/use your points or sell.

Hang in there. You're among friends.

Thank you for your replies. I do believe that my main problem is from literally having no idea what I am doing or what I can do.

My points are under 2 memberships with the 2,500 points being ones that I initially bought in Florida with a deed? something to do with the 19 locations?

I bought the rest in a 'whirlwind' from ebay when I realised that 2,500 wasn't going to get me a holiday.

Neither me or my husband currently drive so that does diminish some of our holidaying options in terms of getting around so we always tend to stay in very central locations on holiday.

If I am honest, if I were to get some help to learn what I can do and how I can do it then I might try.

I was told via email from a diamond resorts person that they would probably not buy back my points so thought that it wasn't an option?

I am not in a great financial position so at first wanted to sell them but when I was told I couldn't I thought that I would rather just give them away than pay the £1000 fees each year....for my out lay I haven't had a single holiday.
I paid for everything on a credit card so it;s all paid up in full.

I guess it may be more fruitful for me to attempt to learn the system?

Can 16,500 points get me a good holiday each year? Can I go to places where I don't need to drive to enjoy myself?

Thankyou for your help....this is seriously the most advice I have EVER got about it! I live in the UK and no one knows about any of it!

Beyond a doubt you are in THE place for help with Diamond/ Sunterra. You must do some homework here as well. Read what you can on this forum. You'll get some good data and perhaps some gist of what it is you own.

The resident expert(s) will guide you through the technicalities and you will learn to get enjoyment out of your purchase.

I'm on vacation in London this week (had Diamond reservations at Carlton Court but they sold that property so now I'm at another timeshare exchange I was able to get.)

16,500 will get you two weeks or more just about anywhere dpending on size, don't you have a Directory/Catalog? I can send you one if you email me, click on my screen name.

I would question whether your points are usable together? Sounds like your 2500 were retail and are in THE Club and the remaining 14000 were resale and may be Trust based only, no Club. Tell us.

I never said Diamond would buy them back, you talked about walking away, that doesn't mean buyback.

Don't know anything about the Diamonds Resorts but found this thread on TUG. I hope it helps.

Don't beat yourself up too much (the world will do that as you know ).

It took me forever to figure out my Hyatt points system (LCUP, CCUP, etc.) and it's a lot easier than DRI.

We have a few folks here who can explain, simplify (as best one can) and advise you on how to strategize.

I have a basic understanding almost having bought Sunterra (Carlton Court once, but things have changed "big-time" for that resort status), so I will defer to the folks in the know.

Just want you to know that the light at the end of the tunnel isn't from an oncoming train !

                        1. You live in the UK.
                        2. You own Florida trust points which would limit you to 19 resorts mostly in the US.
                        3. You don't drive.

Those are your constraints at the moment.

Orlando seems to meet those constraints. Do you want to go there? Seems like you could book 2 or 3 or 4 weeks there almost immediately.

Where do you want to go and what do you want to do on vacation? You probably don't want to change constraint #1, but maybe there's hope for constraints #2 and #3 ...

And here I was thinking I could take them off your hands for nothing, or, in the alternative, that you might be a shill for Timeshare Relief...

Seriously, you are in the right place, and now thinking along the right lines...

I am a newbie when it comes to DRI,but I can honestly say finding and posting here is a great first step to learning about the system and getting honest answers from some of the DRI/Sunterra vets who hang out in these parts.

I have so far used up 14000 pts (booked but not stayed yet) and I can say it has been relatively easy to learn the system once I got the basics out of the way (Trust, CSV, CSV1, Deed, the CLUB, elite memberships, buying ebay, buying direct, etc.) - and the vets around here have helped tremendously in helping me conquer the basics hurdle.

Hang in there and ask your questions. Also, be honest in letting us know what your expectations on vacations are and what your time and travel constraints are. You may well be sitting on a goldmine of many potential happy future vacations. Don't waste it by giving up too easily/early.

The 2500 were from the guy at florida and the rest I bought from ebay so they are on a separate membership.

I got given a directory when i bought them but the only correspondence I have gotten since has been the fees bill!
