What correspondence do you expect? You need to get out there and book and take your vacations. I don't believe that you will be able to combine the reservations in your retail and resale purchases but it's easy enough to run them together.

16,500 points is lot of points. Depending on the season, the size of accommodation and the quality and location of the resort, you can easily turn the points into a few very nice vacations for a total of like 2 to 8 weeks.

I own 10,000 points, and find it not easy to get rid of them. I am a cheapo, so always take advantage of their specials, 59 day window and II exchange.

If you can't drive, for sure your choice is limited to some urban resorts, e.g. Orlando, Williamsburg, Vegas. You can go to the Tri-Royals in Cancun. No driving is necessary. 16,500 can give you a one bedroom for 3 weeks.

Learn how to use them. You will find Diamond/Sunterra quite rewarding.

If you must sell, try eBay. Alternatively, lots of us in this forum or tugbbs.com would like to pick it up from you.

i thought maybe a new brochure or something? I didn't know what to expect as I wasn't really told when I bought them. As I say I was with my fiance, young child, mum and sister who had come with me as we were told it was a 2 hour thing. I didn't know anything about timeshare and believed them when they said it was just to show you around.

After 5 hours of saying no thanks and my son is crying, little sister begging to go so we could get on with the holiday I gave in. I know it was my own fault and I should have stuck to my guns but there we go, thats life.

I am not trying to be silly it's just that I honestly do not have a clue

          release

Thanks spence for those emails. I have received a reply and they phoned me and said that they would release me from my contract at no cost to me.

Thanks a lot for your help with this. I appreciate it very much. x

Did you take any financing with them? If not, and all you are paying is the annual Maintenance Fees, then "releasing you" is not a favor. If you have a sizeable loan, that's another story.

Pink. don't you even want to give it a try? first you get 'bullied' into a purchase (and not stick by your guns to say "no"), then you walk away from such an opportunity to have wonderful vacations seemly so easily without giving it a chance. Maybe keep at least 1/2 the points and give back the other half? Hey, try to get something positive out of the frustrating times you had!!!

Pink, didn't you state you paid for these via credit card and there is no mortgage? If so you just gave away to the scum who bullied you in to buying your entire investment to resell to some other unsuspecting sole.

If youjust want to walk away offer it here on the BBS and someone will gladly take it off your hands and pay the maintenance fees.

Very confusing. The sales guy could have "released" you from 2500 points. If you have paid in full, it means you are giving him/her "cash".

How about the resale points? You do not have a contract with the developer. If you sell the points on eBay or to someone here, you can get 2 to 3K back. If you have given Diamond 14,000 points, that's too bad. I have been bidding on eBay without success for more points.

It seems you have a big family. They can have a nice vacation for two weeks every year in a three bedroom unit in Orlando. Why give away your points (your property) for free? I don't understand.

                  One mistake after another.

After reading this thread; it hardly seems worth the 2 free Disney tickets or what ever the gift was

I am glad Spence was able to help you find a resolution that suited your desire.

It isn't the way most of us would have liked. We would all have loved to see you turn this all around and enjoy your purchase, instead of <assumption on my part> throwing the baby out with the bath water.

Is this a done deal or can you still take a run at DRI?

and do you, at this late point, want to learn how to do the dance?

                            and you mean that how?

For the most part the members here are happy because they have learned the intricacies of the various products they have purchased. This being the DRI section which I don't own and don't feign to even know about but there are people that are willing to share what they know to make the ownership not only attractive but beneficial. No place else on the web has that.

If someone wishes to walk away from their investment and they have found out how to do that without incurring additional costs fine.

I like taking vacations. Especially vacations at very nice places for less than the cost of a Holiday Inn.

You need to use your 2008 points this year. Why not give some time to family members if you are not going to use your points or rent some weeks out to the public?
