  • What did I buy

Hello all, Wondering if someone could explain exactly what I purchased. In the process of acquiring some resale before making the attempt to get into the club. I jumped on this ebay auction right at the end without doing my homework(I know stupid!) So the back to the question, when I looked at the trust resorts it is not listed. So what is the affilation? Ebay auction#380000474663 5500 sunoption points Villas at Poco Diablo. Was this a mistake or nothing to worry about? Thanks

I've never seen a points ownership at VPD, I would be surprised if that's what it is. I think that it is a fixed or more probably a floating week deed that was converted to the Club. This means that when you get it, you get the deed for the fixed or floating week and you have no points and no Club membership. I'd be interested to know what you find out, you certainly have reason to reneg if I am right.

The bit about MFs going down is also BS.

Thanks Spence, I am contacting them right now to find out. That would be just my luck. Let me ask you this. If VPD is not a diamond resort then how would you be able to convert a regular week to points? Is that saying you can convert any week from any resort or is there certain affiliations that can be converted?

Is there a number to Diamond or a dept. that I could call to verify what I will actually be purchasing? Any help would be appreciated.

The seller may be confused. If you look at his past sales, not very many are Sunterra, and of the Sunterra ones, most are Florida trust resorts.

For example, the buyer of some points at Daytona Beach said in his feedback "this is not Daytona Beach, this is CSV points ... but that is OK".

So some people that he sold Fall Creek and Powhatan and Daytona Beach to may have actually ended up with CSV points. Probably most people, as otherwise there would be more complaints.

In your case, it sounds like you're entitled to a week at VPD. Period. Maybe you can trade that week in RCI? I don't know how that works.

The # of points indicated in the ad has no significance, because you won't get those. So, the advertising seems to be misleading and incorrect. If that is the case, as Spence said, that would potentially be grounds for you to renege.

Well, Talked with the seller today.(maybe used car salesman?) Stated that the info I am receiving is not coming from someone who sells over 2000 timeshares a year. Reassured me that these points are transferable. DRI had already been contacted and is aware of the sale to be for points to be transfered. Stated that this would have been a problem 1 1/2 years ago but now is being made possible. Oh, I feel so much better now.(OK, NOT!!!!!!!!!) I can see I will be holding my breath for quite awhile. Thanks for the contact info Nicky. I have sent an email to see if I can get a clarification on this. Hopefully someone will reply. Thanks again all.

I don't think you can get an answer out of DRI without having seen a copy of the current deed/membership paperwork. Demand to have it emailed to you.

Received email today from seller, Stated sun options ownership according to Sunterra's title office is not a deeded ownership, so there is no deed to show me. New member papers will come to me from Sunterra. I received a letter from seller, it was "to whom it mat concern" basically stating points info, contract # was sold thru seller for $ signed by original owner and myself. The second form was CSV(the Club) Transfer of Membership with original owners info and myself. Filled out and returned to Diamond financial services Attn: reconveyance dept. Being this was my first points purchase it is different as far as paperwork compaired to my other deeded week purchases. Any thoughts? Does this sound right?

I'm new to the forum and found it while researching an e-bay auction for Sun Options. I also have a copy of the Club Sunterra Vacations Transfer of Ownership form. It states that transfer is for the Club Sunterra Vacations Members Assoc and Sunoptions. It also states that the transfer of membership does not include membership in the Club Sunterra Exhcange program (which I assume is The Club that everyone is referring to that requires a $2995 fee to join).

My concern is that the auction states that the MF includes II membership fee. When I called DRI, they said that you can't use II without converting to The Club on a transferred membership. It sounds like I would have access to the 20 resorts in the trust and thats it. Does that sound right to the experts out there?

                        Truvi

That is correct. No II for just CSV-1 points. Also, those points can not be traded through other exchanges as a deed possibily could. Unless those points are converted to Club, you are limited to exchanges to properties only within the CSV-1 trust (not that that is a bad thing though)!
