  • Is Diamond Slowly Erasing Elite Benefits?

It used to be that Club members recieved "Best Available" units, which meant most recently renovated. Also noticed the elimination of the Elite check-in line, and Elite Parking.

If true, this would be a disturbing trend!

I have never been guaranteed "best available" unit orally or in writing (unless I missed something). At Powhatan at Easter all the Elite parking and check-in lines were as they've always been. If anything, from what I understand, Diamond is trying to enhance both membership and Elite benefits.

There was an Elite check in when we were at The Suite's at Fall Creek in Branson just yesterday. I did not notice any Elite parking spaces.

I have never been guaranteed best available and I have only seen elite parking at some places and no elite check-in line.

I was quite surprised as well.

As Spence indicated, the parking spaces and check-in line for Elite level Club Members at Powhatan have always been there. However, they are gone at least since this Monday. I stopped over today again to be sure I wasn't dreaming. But I guess there is a chance that they are just being repainted or something.

In my last six trips here, I have always been blessed with above average accomodations. On our last trip of the Summer of 2007, we stayed in a 4BR unit that was renovated that same year. It was so nice, I called the General Manager to compliment them on the new standard. I've heard all the complaints about Powhatan and read many more on the travel review sites. However, I have never had any at all until this trip. I guess I've just been lucky.

I visited the Scottsdale Links Resort last month and used the Elite parking there. Given that the resort was busy, I was happy to have that advantage.

This is the first I'm hearing about "elite benefits." What are they, and what do you need in order to qualify?

Silver Elite level is 15,000 points. Gold Elite is 30,000 points. I'm not certain if Platinum Elite is 45,000 points or some other figure. I don't believe I'll ever be consdiering buying enough points to become Platinum but I'm only 3,500 points short of Gold.

Reduced fee's, upgrade and extended times for saving points are a few of the benefits I can think of off the top of my head.

Hoc, you bought into Polo Towers resale didn't you? If so, do you know that DRI is currently buying back units at a rate of $7,000 for 2 bedroom units and $5,500 for 1 bedroom units? Almost makes me wish I'd have picked up a couple of cheap units off E-bay when they were going for less than $1,000 right before DRI bought out Sunterra. Even after paying the refurbishment fee I would have come out a few thousand ahead.

I've seen those posts, but I did not think that there was a blanket outstanding offer for all owners. I might just sell my 2-br. for $7k, as that will net me a tidy profit and I don't really see the need for a timeshare in Las Vegas, in any event.

and I thought you'd plow those profits into a New Years penthouse at PH.

Live from Powhatan the signs are gone forever. Elite check in is gone forever Internet provider is being replaced for a more reliable one. There use to be a page that listed the different benefits for the levels of elite and I can't find it anymore

It also seems like the specials aren't gone too

But as always the resort is beautiful in spring and the baby geese are waddling around the resort

I was thinking more about summer in Ixtapa, but, then, that's just me.
