HELP - Going to buy soon which is better - when buying deal for 5000 Sunterra points

Hi guys and gals,

I am very close to buying some Sunterra Club Points and I need an extra set (or multiple sets) of eyes to help understand and evaluate the two adds I am looking at to get 5000 Sunterra Club Points

The first is on Ebay its item # 320240072024

GOLD CROWN Club SUNTERRA Sun Options POINTS Timeshare - eBay (item 320240072024 end time Apr-19-08 17:30:00 PDT)

This one I get - pretty straight forward. 5000 CSV-1 Trust type points (just for use at the 19 resorts) for approx $1400 and the annual MF of $650

I Guess that breaks down to Approx ($151 Club Sunterra fee's, $119 in base fee's and ~ $.073 per point) so thats close to $650 a year.

Next thing I saw was this for 5000 points

Diamond Resorts International - THE Club Multi-Destination United States Timeshares resales and Diamond Resorts International - THE Club Multi-Destination , United States timeshare rentals! Browse our huge inventory of timeshares

So it is $1900 (but negotiable) and the MF are only $430 annually

Not only that the add implies that are not just Florida CSV Trust points BUT they are Diamond Resorts International - THE Club Points for access to ALL of Diamond resorts has to offer. Not only that it says "INCLUDES $3000.00 THAT SUNTERRA CHARGES FOR CHANGING NAMES IN DEED" and also INCLUDES FEE CHARGED BY SUNTERRA TO TRANSFER DEED NAME!

What am I missing? This looks like a much better deal (all of the CLUB locations not just 19 Florida Trust sites) ALSO the annual maintenance fee is considerably less?

What am I missing !?!

Also note: Those Auction prices included first year of MF

So the $1400 is really including the first year of MF ($650) and the processing fee (~$400) and the Ebays Sales fee.(~$300)

Is this a good and fair(reasonable?) deal


And more importantly -- is the second deal better (it says its in the CLUB)

Many times they don't know what they're talking about. On a CSV-1 package there is no fee to change the name. How can they "include" the $2995 re-join for THE Club. You need to find out.

Buy both and find another one, you'll be happier.

All these are a little higher I think.... I know it's now $0.0803/pt this year.

I've successfully purchased a points package like this one from svacationman myself and had no problems. Closing took far longer than I might have liked, but everything else was in order.

Your second seller just doesn't know what he's talking about. There is no fee to change the name on a points package at all, although there probably will be some day. Also, you will NOT get into Club by buying with him either. At least svacationman tells you that will cost $2995 extra in a seperate deal directly with Diamond Resorts. Since Seller #2 has no concept of fact, I'd avoid him personally.

I think I paid just under $1000 including closing costs for the last 5000 points. I was happy with that price.

Excellent. Thank you for your help. You validated what I was thinking also, but having an extra set of eyes also helps.

dwmantz -- one quick question....you said that you purchased 500 points for $1000 and that included closing costs.

Did that also include the first years Maintenance Fee's?

No it did not include the 2008 MF. I paid that directly to Diamond after the contract was switched over to me.
