  • How does DRI really work?

I have read the documents provided by DRI and just don't quite get it all. How does resale ( or transfer ) work? http://www.timeshareforums.com/forum...s/confused.gif
I am of average intelligence but seem to have read conflicting info in this forum regarding attempts to purchase into the DRI Club. One person said buy deeds and points on e-bay or wherever, pay the $2995 ( up-convert? ) and its a better deal and another says you can't buy points and there are too many restrictions.....can anyone really explain it? We bought but are about to rescind. Also, We had an idea about paying our mortgage payment with the Diamond Resorts Chase Visa. 1 Dollar=1point. That plan tipped the scales for my wife and I and we bought. They said we could at the presentation but Chase said no can do........ I do suppose you could buy products for your business, groceries and gas, etc and accumulate a lot of non expiring points that way, so why would anyone buy more than the minimum ( ours was 4000 )
for $15,000 ) and get the rest of their points through shopping. Any feedback on that idea?!!! Thanks, Craig

Rescinding would be a very good idea

Probably should be moved to the Diamond Resorts Forum.

Rescinding would be a very good idea. 4000 points can be purchased resale for under $1000. So yes, points can indeed be purchased resale. However, they can only be used within the trust they are from, which is not bad actually. The $2995 fee you mention is to convert a package of points and/or deeds to The Club. If you purchase directly from Diamond, the Club is included.

Follow the rescind directions to the letter and do so immediately.

If in the end, Diamond Resorts is the system you want to own in, then start reading. There's a Diamond Resorts Forum on this site full of info, and a number of experts far more knowledgable then I here who will help you.

I agree with dwmantz...I don't own anything with DRI, but I would definitely rescind. We have people on this board who are very knowledgeble about DRI. they will tell you the same thing...Rescind and they can show you how to get what you have for a lot less money than what you spent. I don't see them on now, but they do check everyday.

If you wanted, say 10,000 points in the "club", the smartest way would be to buy 6000 -8000 pts resale ( for maybe $1000 - $2000 ) then buy enough points direct from DRI to get them to agree to allow the resale points (either points at one resort or points in the "trust") to be converted to "club" points. {edited to add}OR pay a single fee of $2995 and not have to buy more points

The key is that DRI will only bring resale points into the "club" when you buy more points direct from DRI. {edited to add}OR pay a single fee of $2995 and not have to buy more points
So alway buy resale points first, then make the best deal you can with DRI.

Read/study what has been said in the past. Bill4728s statement is wrong. There is a bottom line price of $2995 to convert a single property.

I would rescind you can always get the deal that you have now then you can read more on how to buy and save money. All of my timeshares are in DRI and I like it very much and Spence know the most about DRI.
