  • Trading other timeshare weeks

We just purchased a membership for 3000 points for $10,000, which includes the 2995 fee. We bought into Diamond with the idea that we could bank our RCI or II timeshares and get 6,000-8,000 points each year and that it would simplify our managemnt of our timeshares. We are still within the recission period and I just came upon this forum. Two questions come up --(1) is there a less expensive way to do this and (2) does this idea make sense based on people's experience w/ DRI?
    thankx, alan

I was always told that FULL membership in The CLUB is needed to bank other non DRI holdings for points (Club Select), 3000 points resale is less than $10,000 even assuming you paid the $2995 on top of the resale price

If you can't get the $2995 deal you'll have to purchase a min of 2000 points from DRI to add to whatever resale points you end up buying at whatever the current price is ($5500 in Feb 2008) which would then give you a FULL club membership allowing you to bank your other weeks for points

This is of course assuming I've got it right and have explained it correctly

If you try to 'bank' your week as joe blow Club member, I don't think there is any guarantee that they will take your week. My belief is that the lesser desired weeks you see in Club Select are there because some promises were made to make a retail sale.

Thank you both for your replies --it makes it simple to decide to rescind and go the resale route to join The Club --I really appreciate the fast responses and answers

When we bought into The Club we purchased 3000 points and were able to add 5 additional club affiliated units (converted to points but we hold the deeds) we had purchased previously resale. In addition 2 other timeshares we own were included as options for deposit into club select for a set amount of points. This was in writing. So far, we have not chosen to deposit those for points & have either used them or exchanged them. But the option is there should we ever want more points during a given year.
