  • Europe availability

    Hey all,

I'm an owner in the Hawaii Trust at DRI. Is there any reason why I can never find availability in Europe DRI resorts?

    Thanks

I am not a DRI member, but as a moderator at the European t/s site Timesharetalk Forum , I can tell you that there are a lot of European DRI experts over there, who I am sure can answer your questions.

I did note that DRI sold its London property, Carlton Court, which was one of its crown jewels in terms of location and demand, almost certainly because a central London property like that could command a huge sales prices on the property market. At one time, I remember some speculation about what other European properties might be sold off, but since then DRI has seemed to have really revamped their sales organizatoin so maybe they won't be selling off any more. From some numbers taken from Sunterra reports that were analysed on the Crimeshare board, it would appear that there is a lot of non-producing inventory in Sunterra Europe, now DRI Europe.

Can you book 12 months in advance? Mine is 10 minths only.

I am an expert of nothing, but years ago, I bought from Sunterra (now Diamond) because of its Euro resorts. Have browsed availability numerous times and been to quite a few destinations.

You said in another thread you prefer hot locals in low season, which doesn't exist in Europe. When it is hot Europe is in high season.

      My experience:

      1. Very difficult, or next to impossible: Paris, Nice and Tuscany in hot months. Nice is available besides the summer months; Tuscany can be found from late October to March.

      2. Difficult but doable: U.K., Costa Del Sol peak summer months only.

      3. Relatively easy: Spain, Austria, Germany, Normandy.

Two ways to increase your change:

      1. Reserve 10 to 12 months out.

      2. Talk to the call centre. For very strange reason, I found the call centre can see more inventories.

Never get availability looking in Spain or Portugal

I've focused mostly on finding anything in Spain. I've checked randomly through the next 10 months by searing Spain, just Canary Islands and a few specific resorts, but I always get "No results found". I've actually rented Vilar to Golf through II for September, but there is never any DRI or II using points.

I'll try contacting DRI customer service to see if there is any availability in Europe. I'm just trying to get an idea of future places to go when the kid gets into school and we have to travel in the summer.

        Thanks for the info.

There's something wrong with your search!

I've just searched for "Spain" for the next year and it's come up with 167 pages of availability (with 10 properties per page). I'm a European member but I thought we all had the same access to resorts?

I think you'd better make that phone call....

            System Glitch

Called DRI. Apparently there is availability, but for some reason my account wasn't hooking up DRI Europe. They're currently working on fixing the problem. Does anybody else have this problem? If so, call DRI and wait 10-30 minutes to get a CS rep.

I had the same problem a few months ago. After a phone rep and members on this board confirmed they could see availabilty and I could not, I called DRI. They fixed the issue in less than seven days.

It was explained to me it was not an issue isolated to my account and that they were addressing at a global level. I could not for the life of me get any more specific details from them.

                Slow IT

It's been 3 weeks since my original reporting of this issue, I followed that up last week, and now they put in another service call to IT and I still have to wait another 2 weeks to see if IT will bless me with their time and effort to fix this problem.

I'm not sure how IT service was in the past, but this is boarderline incompetence.
