  • Floating Peak weeks???

I noticed at one of the DRI-owned properties, the March/April Peak weeks (spring break?) varies year to year. Like in 2007 it's weeks 13 and 14, in 2008 it's weeks 12 and 13, for 2009 it's 15 and 16.

    Aren't Peak weeks fixed?

For those weeks it depends on when Easter is.

Easter shifts, 4th of July shifts, even Thanksgiving (usually 47 once in a long while 48) and Christmas (usually 51 and when there's a Wk53 it's 52) can shift. You'd think DRI and/or the former company could get it right. Premium points were charged for the week after the 4th of July this year.

I now do not have access to the 2007, 2008, and 2009 calendars but Jul 4th week 27 has been the same for all these three years.

You gotta take the big picture, HALF the time 4th of July is in Wk26 and HALF the time it's in Wk27. And you can't believe what Sunterra/DRI tells you, this year the 4th of July is in Wk26 yet the Calendar Gurus at DRI have the premium points charged for the week after, Wk27.

Well since July 4th of 2009 is on a Saturday, IMO it really can be considered either week 26 or 27. Yes, some years when Jul 4 is on a weekday in Week 26, Week 27 can be blatantly wrong.

Question is - does DRI have in its contracts at each resort which PEAK weeks are fixed and which are variable/floating ?

You're not understanding or looking at the big picture. Go to any timeshare calendar that shows you many years like the one at TUG. Look at Wk27 and you can easily see that 7 out of the 16 years the holiday (night) is in Wk27, the other years it's in Wk26. Basically half and half.

In the past, the former company gave deed owners the holiday allotment of points if they were an owner of either Wk26 or Wk27. I have no recent experience.

I pointed up the real problem with this year's points catalog in that DRI was charging HOLIDAY points for Wk27, A Friday start on 4th of July is a Wk27 but a Saturday or Sunday start Wk26 is what contains the 4th this year.

I don't know what 'contract' you're talking about. The Assignment Agreement where a deed week owner gives use of their week for an annual allotment of points does not change. As I said before, Sunterra gave premium points to both weeks.

The points catalog has no 'contract' they can write it or mess it up just like they can jack the Club fees up mid year.

              Here's another Easter example:
In the old days they gave Holiday premium to owners of weeks 12,13,14 I think (maybe shift it a week) I don't remember exactly. Anyway, they were losing way to many points this way so they changed it for more recent conversions where you only got the off-season points but if your week happened to be Easter in any year you would be able to reserve your deeded resort (only your deeded resort) for the off-season rate you had been alloted. I have one of those weeks from way back when I got the Holiday premium.

              Question?
