Has anyone else called DRI about hotel stays?
Well I just did, I wanted to use my points to book Sept. 19 to 21 in Myrtle Beach at SeaWatch Plantation. After an extremely long time the person advises me that I can pay $89 dollars a night to stay at blueberry hotel. I've never heard of it, but I asked how many points would it be (since I have leftover points) this request took additional time. Finally he says it would cost 4000 points for the weekend, thus 2000 a night. Which results in 89 dollars plus tax divided by 2000 points being the return per point. To make the math easy lets assume 11 dollars of tax so 100/2000 which means the return is around 5 cents a point, I guess this is in line with the other relatively poor values in the selection category. I must say I wish I knew more how the hotel & resorts Selection option worked behind the scenes, for instance are they really paying full price retail and they are just a middle man or what? Anyway I used Resortime and rented for 79 dollars a 1 bedroom at harbour lights resort, not bad I guess.
