  • Someone get a great buy?

Am I missing something but did someone get a smokin' deal on this ebay auction?

California - Avila Beach! 10,500 points! - eBay (item 200243500752 end time Aug-06-08 11:10:23 PDT)

It's a decent number of points at a highly demanded coastal CA resort and for an awesome price.

That is not a deeded sale but rather a Diamond Florida Trust sale. The buyer will have to purchase a Club membership to access the non-trust resorts and pay the Club fees. Still, it's a great buy. I own 2 weeks at San Luis Bay in studios. I rolled them into DRI last year for a total 7000 point value. That gets me better use through II for exchanging and I still can use my owner bonus time for nightly stays mid week & off season for cheap rates. It's almost imposible to book during the summer even using home resort advantage with DRI. They are playing some kind of games there.

Probably because DRI only has the units in the new wing. The original building is a Glen Ivy, now Wynfield PSE.

While the number of points for the price is great, I can't see where it says it's part of any trust. If not part of any trust the buyer only gets the points to use at that resort and the resorts don't really like points owners like that as the points were designed to be used in THE Club.

I just figured it was a Trust sale judging from the number of points. My brother bought there last year from Sunterra and his purchase was in the Trust and about the same number of points.

While the listing is poorly written, you might be right, but the number of points is immaterial and it says it's SLB. So, I would think it was a deed for an UDI at SLB worth 10,500 points. Many of these resorts make the points very difficult to use when they 'revert' back to only being good at the one resort, some may only let you book full weeks, etc, etc.

My units are resale deeded floating weeks in the original building. I never had a problem booking during summer in the past. Now there is nothing available 30 seconds after the window opens. Owners of weeks are getting very disgruntled. Prime times are being manipulated by DRI somehow. I assigned my weeks to DRI Club to try to make use of the points since it has gotten so difficult to actually book prime time there. We still go during off season using our owner bonus time rates but even that is getting more difficult to book. The DRI point rates are ridiculous but they seem to have a corner on the availability. I'm really not sure what is going on.

How could you assign deeded weeks from the Fairfield side to DRI?

These are deeded weeks and I still own the deeds. They were never part of Fairfield nor were they points, strictly weeks. Fairfield just manages the resort. Diamond assigns a point value to my weeks and that's what I get in my Club account each year that I assign my use to them. I then have to make any reservation through the Club rather than directly with Fairfield. When I have called or checked online to reserve summer use at the 13 month home resort window there is rarely anything available except a day or two here & there. So I have used the points to exchange with II into other locations. I never got super trades with my studios at II because they are sticklers about size. I make better use of them as points for now. As travel becomes more costly, I may pull them out of the Club and just use them myself. I never go to the Ca. coast in the summer anyway so trying to reserve summer weeks isn't really a concern unless I want to deposit & get top exchange value.
