  • Trying to understand it all!

    Hi everybody,
My husband and I have had a 2 bedroom timeshare week in Florida, Plantation Island which is not part of DRI or the old Sunterra and we always traded through RCI but more and more have had trouble getting into trades esp during summer and school vacations time. We had heard about points and hoped for better availability so we recently purchased 4000 pts while on vacation at Powhatan in VA. The Club was "thrown in". And we were told we could trade DRI our week and gain 8000 pts. It was our understanding that we don't have to do this every year just the years we wanted. Has any one heard of this?

We were also told to offset MF cost we could go to 2 owner updates per year and have $200 put toward the MF. The sales rep said we could go MA but I don't see any of the trust resorts in MA only affiliate.
    Any help is appreciated.

That's called Club Select. Search this forum for info on it. You have to pay to deposit your non-DRI week. You'll probably want to deposit every year because 4000 points isn't much if you need larger units in Summer and school vacation times. Your costs for 4000 points annually is high.. you're paying ~$320 maintenance, $225 Club Dues, and probably some sort of base Trust fee of ~200, then a deposit fee for Club Select...

What a bunch of hogwash, not that you can't do it, $100 is a cheap cost to DRI to have another shot at you.
... not enough time for all the timeshares ®

      Thanks Spence,

I have been trying to search for answers but seemed I was hitting walls whenever I questioned people. Without the correct jargon it is hard to know what I am looking at.
      Appreciate the input!
