There's nothing magic here. DRI's Club is one of the most flexible systems out there, especially if you plan at the opening of your window. "Hotel based" what does that mean, it means nothing. Now II or another exchange company is a different animal, first, someone has to deposit what you want, then you have to be the first to have a request in for it, at least with DRI you know you have whatever tradepower is required.

I'm not sure who "the guy" is. I have 347 points left for this year and I "see" all sorts of availability for this year that costs more than that.

What is it that you think Owner Enhancement is going to do? My experience with Owner Enhancement is that it enhances your membership by selling you more product.

been with II over 12 yrs. been with dri for little over one year now. flexibility wise, dri kicks butt over II.

i have 0 pts this year and i just saw and booked (borrowed pts from 2009) an October 2008 stay. i also see lots of 2009 availability

If you have the money to spend on another system, go for it. Browse other threads in this site you will find other people in other systems complain more or less about the same thing.

While you have a fairly good TS system now, why don't you utilize it fully to your advantage.

I was frustrated with Sunterra the first few years, though I was able to use all the points. Until I found this forum and TUG to learn all TS tricks, I was not a happy camper.

Now, I book some weeks well in advance (I was able to get HRA and FSA and Marriotts) and some in the last minutes to take advantage of the 50% discount. I am going to Marriott's Grand Chateau October 25. This one bedroom costs me 2750 points.

                Timesharing is soooooo good.

I guess I am the winner for now. I have 425 points left. They are 2009 points, not 2008. I never have any problem spending my DRI points.

There are only 3 problems for me: not enough DRI points, not enough money to finance this hobby and not enough vacation weeks from work.

Maybe it's based on your Annual allotment, because i have 0 point left for the year but can still see all resort up to 9000 points.

I have 0 points left for 2008 and less than 5000 left for 2009 and I am seeing all that 11,000 a week availability for late Aug. 2009.

                      A couple of thoughts:

                      1. It may be as simple as clearing your cookie/cache, rebooting your computer and redoing a search. Put in Aug. 28 as check in and check the flexible date box.

                      2. The system may not show you as able to borrow your 2009 points because you haven't yet paid your 2009 MF. You have to do that to borrow the next year's points. You should be able verify that is the problem with a DRI rep (if that was the problem, "the guy" should have told you)....although I don't know why the system would block you from seeing inventory. I think it would be in DRI's interest for you to see all the great vacations you could reserve if you just pay your 2009 MF (or bought more points).

So call back. Tell them you have 9000 points this year and 9000 next year (right?) and you do not understand AT ALL why you can't see all availability. The week is there in the system...get an explanation of why you can't book it with your (potential) 18,000 pts.

As far as a "hotel based" system...each system if different but pretty much all of them will require you to have paid MF to borrow points from a future year to use today.

As far as II...inventory changes daily. Check back often or, better yet, put in an ongoing search.

There's your problem..I think. You are not able to borrow your 2010 points points until Jan. of 2009 so you couldn't book an 11,000 week right now. Maybe they let me see it because if I canceled some ongoing reservations, I could reserve it.

Your best bet is to put in the II search and see if something you want comes up....and it would cost less than 11,000 points.

One more thing - have you looked at Club Select? There isn't anything yet for the end of next August but there are a few summer weeks listed are within driving distance of you.
