That's great to hear - maybe progress is finally really occurring. Our last visit was late 2007 and, at that time, things had not improved over our previous stay in 2005 when we had all sorts of issues. They have been promising progress and your message seems to say they are delivering. I hope so as it is overall a nice resort.

We usually get a 4 BDRM lock-out so friends can stay in one unit and my family in the other. If anyone is trying to decide on whether to get the lower unit or the upper unit, here are some suggestions:
If you really want a hot tub, they are only in the lower units (due to the weight of the units and water). When we were there last summer, the people in maintenance said most of the hot tubs were not functioning properly. So keep in mind that you may not get a working hot tub.
It seems the lower level units are a little more worn than the upper units. Perhaps more people want the bottom units because of the hot tubs and to avoid the steps.
The lower units may be a little noisy. If people are upstairs, you hear every footstep and murmurs of conversations.
The upper units are a little more open and have more ambient light. There is no hot tub, but it has a wet bar. The upper units also have a nice enclosed porch.
In the upper units, there is access to both bathrooms. One of the bathrooms opens to the master bedroom and to the public area.
I hope people find this information helpful. My family loves Powhattan!

I must have a different definition of an enclosed porch beause I've never had one in a dozen 'D' unit stays.

Sorry, I don't know what I was thinking. The porches on the upper units are not enclosed. The sides are a solid wall and there is a railing at the front. If I remember correctly, there isn't even a roof over the porch, so the floor gets quite hot in the summer. If you get a unit with a view of the lake (it's really more of a large pond), the porch is a nice place to have coffee in the early morning and a relaxing drink in the evening.
