  • Why buy into the CA collection?

The California collection has only 2 RDI resorts in it at this time. (Lake Tahoe & San Luis Bay) Which are both in the US collection.

Why would anyone buy into the California Collection instead of the US collection?

What the heck is the Ca. Collection? I own at San Luis. It's part of the Dri Florida Trust.

There are now 3 "Trusts". The main one called the US collection ( AKA the florida trust) there is also a Hawaiian collection / Trust and a California collection/ trust.

        I see several issues.

First, all sales by DRI will be for inventory in the Califonrnia collection. Thus, over time the bulk of inventory in those resorts will shift towards California Collection and away from the US Collection. Because inventory control assigns space based on holdings, as that shift occurs it will be easier to reserve at those resorts for Calofornia Trust members than for US Trust members.

Second, DRI probably plans to add more resorts on the west Coast, and as those resorts are added they will go into the California collection. As that occurs the US Collection will probably become more an eastern US collection.

Well, that's news to me! DRI hasn't informed me that I'm part of some new Trust. I just made a reservation through the Club today at 13 months out for a Florida Trust resort. Are the reservation rules going to change?

ETA: Being a resident of Ca who rarely travels to Florida, I would be happy about more choices in the west!

You're not part of some new trust. If you were previously part of the Sunterra Florida trust, that's where you still are and there is no change at all from your previous situation.

What has happened is that DRI has created a new trust, providing inventory it owns at Lake Tahoe and San Luis Bay to the trust. They are now pitching that trust in their sales.

But inventory that was previously associated with the Florida trusts stays in the Florida Trust (now the US collection) unless it was developer inventory.

wonder if some provision will allow residents out west who belong to the US collection transfer membership to the CA Collection (at no charge, of course)
