  • Any DRI limit on number of weeks for Club Select?

Does anyone know if Diamond has a limit to how many weeks they will let you bring into the Club Select on a purchase? Also, I understand that those points Diamond grants you are worth the same as purchased ones for trading, but limited to timesharing. They can't be used for perks like airfare, etc. Is that true?
Any opinions on how people are doing with trading with points obtained from Club Select?

To my knowledge, there is not a limit per se, but I expect that you would be limited. DRI does not guarantee that you can convert anything as a member. The guarantees I have seen are specified in purchase of new retail points. So, if you have a dog week, I would hope that they don't generally let you convert them, unless a salesman has guaranteed it in your contract to make a sale, and I've seen those guarantees with a limit to number of years.

Well, the limitation is that for 'benefits' like MFs and airline points/tix you are limited to your normal annual allotment or 50,000 points, whichever is less.

What do you mean? The points can be used just like any other points as far as Club reservations to DRI properties or II. You may not save them though!

Club Select weeks on new purchase

      Thanks Spence!
I am talking about pulling in a bunch, like 6-8, weeks (non-DRI) into Club Select on a new, minimal retail purchase of DRI. (Seems like the paperwork only allows 2 weeks per purchase of 5000 points or more) The retail price is relatively high, $3.50ish /pt, but the Club Select points seem to make it a bit more attractive with these relatively low-trading power weeks (tired of RCI dead-ends and not willing to dump them yet).
Concerning the trading, I didn't know if the Diamond computer viewed these Club Select points substandard to real DRI points, that's all. It seems not.

You can bring as many weeks into Club Select as you can negotiate at the time of purchase. DRI will look at the week and decide whether or not it is one that they will accept. They do not accept weeks that are vacation club weeks - e.g., they wouldn't consider our Raintree Vacation Club. But they will accept floating weeks.

When we went through the sales pitch last summer they said that starting sometime by the end of this year the program would be changed for new members such that a property could only be deposited into Club Select a maximum of five times. After that, an owner would be required to reapply for Club Select privileges, meaning that the owner would have to make another purchase of points from DRI to be able to request a new 5x deposit window. Again, DRI would review and they could refuse to accept a resort they had previously accepted, or they could change the number of points assigned.

This change would apply only to units brought into Club Select after the effective date of the change. Units accepted into Club Select prior to that effective date would continue to not be restricted in the number of times a deposit could be made.

“This is a blouse and skirt. I don't know what you're talking about.”

        “You shouldn't wear that body.”
