monkey, we commiserate with you, but in every system there are bargains to be had and some things that are not bargains. The key is to learn how to use each system to its best advantage and not to harp on what doesn't work for you. I think your last post was over the top and poorly stated.
... not enough time for all the timeshares ®

While I agree with you 100%, the OP is already an owner at the Villa's at Polo Towers. Short of selling the units, they're stuck with DRI.

As Spence stated now it's up to the OP to decide how to make the best of what they own. Is it best to join THE Club for the flexibilty of the points or is it best to stay as they are.

In my case, I had decided to sell back to DRI but, the credit crunch killed that deal. So, since I'm a member of DRI's THE Club, I held out enough points for one 2 bedroom and one 1 bedroom exchange (I meant to hold enough points for two 2 bedroom exchanges but, is had a little issue adding). The remaining points were used to offset my MF's. Those extra points would lower my MF's by $675. It will lower my total out of pocket fee's to around $1,600. That's MF's plus THE Club dues.

I still feel that an average of $800 per week is a little high for the quality of resort and amenities offered by Polo Towers but, it's more reasonable and, I can use those DRI points to exchange into resorts that meet my needs better.

So, while I might have issues with DRI's management style and the premium they're charging for the quality resort they deliver (not just the units but the resort overall), I find this is a better deal for us. I won't be buying any additional points or timeshares managed by DRI. I won't even consider buying Bluegreen if there's even a remote possiblity that DRI might still be interested in buying them out. But, I will make the most of a bad situation.

The OP needs to figure out what's best for them. Stay as they are, buy into the points package, or, although not mentioned, sell out. Since they already own two units in a DRI resort telling them to stay away isn't really helpful.

Spence, as usual, your eloquence is only surpassed by your charm and considerations. May we all learn to accept and welcome adversity as well as thee.

Just a quick update. A salesman from an outside marketing firm came to sell us on "The Club" and switching to a points system. The guy was absolutely clueless. His pitch was basically 85% of owners switched so you should too. He could not even explain the system. Any questions we posed to him were answered with a yes you can do that no problem. I recognized his BS immediately. He left we did not buy and I am now more confused than I was before. For now we are sticking with our week and will switch as we used to.

what do you mean by " ... and will switch as we used to. " ?

I agree with several previous posts...Do what you think works for you the best. For some, selling out, for some staying with the fixed week, for some convert to the Club.

For us, we converted our developer purchased week to DRI/the Club, and subsequently bought resales and converted those as well, all within the initial conversion contract (of our developer-purchased Polo week).

So far, we have no regrets, except maybe the increase of fees, but we aren't going to whine over that (yet...). It's a female-dog that everything seems to be going up in price all around us, except for a can of Coke Cola, so TS's going up is no different. We all are getting the shaft from a cost perspective. But, it's a good price to pay to live on the greatest country on the face of the planet IMO.

Polo Towers vs Points in Diamond Resorts

I was offered the exchange of points for my 2 rooms week in Polo Villas. The cost was almost $6000 and I did not feel it right. I always use my time share in Vegas, so as I do not exchange, did not seem suitable. However I was surprised how fast they gave up. Usually the time shares sale persons do not like to let go, today it was surprisingly fast. I felt I was being tricked and something not tell.
Will appreciate the input of anybody in a similar situation.
