  • How to use Diamond points & deeded weeks???

I am new to this forum and incredibly relieved to have found this site! My family has owned 2 deeded weeks (weeks 20 & 25)at Polynesian Isles for about 15 years. They have never stayed there and no longer use their weeks. My husband and I who own 5000 points with Diamond have now inherited these weeks and am unsure how to best work them to our advantage. I am afraid we will not be able to pay all of the mianitence fees for 2009. Here are a few questions:
    - Which is better to keep/sell? Is anything selling right now?

    - Our family prefers the beach but with our points have been unable to secure an exchange during our available vacation weeks. Are the deeded weeks more likely to accomplish the exchange we want?(East Coast)

-For 2008 we have 5000 that will expire at the end of this year. Any suggestions on ways to use them? (We are unable to take off between now and then and neither is any extended family)Is exchanging them towards maintence fees a good idea?

    Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Look at eBay, it will take you just a few minutes to see that $1 is the going rate right now.

East Coast beach weeks, in summer, are very hard to get in trade for your weeks, your chances are slim. With your points, too, as DRI has only HHI and not a lot of it and II has few opportunities for East Coast beach.

You are way too late finding us for this year. 31Oct was the last deadline to save any of your points or to use '08 points for an II exchange for the future. You're also way past any deadline to give away your '08 points towards maintenance fees.

we just looked at our calendar and realized our 2 week maui stay is coming right up (about 4 months away). without dri (or a comparable timeshare membership) we would have never had the opportunity to take this dream trip!

just wanted to show one example of how we are maximizing our vacation ownership !

accomodations is just one piece of a trip, BUT it is one LARGE piece of the puzzle. i can just say what we would have paid for the 2 weeks accomodations alone on the outside market is in the range of $5000, and i am being very conservative.

imo, this one trip alone justifies my dri ownership.
