DRI Polo Towes to go non-smoking

I received this E-mail today.

The annual meeting of Polo Towers Vacation Ownership Owners Association, Inc., was held on Wednesday, December 3, 2008. At the meeting, owners Jerry Lage and Jerome Rand were re-elected to the Board of Directors. Additionally, members voted to make all rooms at the resort non-smoking rooms. More information about the no smoking policy, as well as its effective date, will be sent to you shortly.

this only affects like 4 or 5 floors? i forget exactly but it was a minority amt of floors which allowed smoking

But if you exchanging in and have the lowest priority for room assingments, it could be important.

that's true.

i am all for it (the new policy). means less cost in the long term for us owners (in replacement costs) and a generally healthier environment- WAY TO GO POLO! cigarettes imo is a nasty drag on society in many forms.

Here's the E-mail outlining the new non-smoking policy. As you can see, they whimped out on making the resort completely non-smoking by allowing smoking on the balconies of floors 6, 9 and 12.

Dear Valued Polo Towers Owner,

Owners belonging to the homeowners associations at Polo Towers have voted to make all rooms at the resort non-smoking rooms. Smoking will be allowed only on the balconies of the rooms located on floors 6, 9 and 12. Smoking is not allowed in the resort’s public areas except for designated smoking areas in the west and main lobbies. This policy is effective January 2, 2009.

Doug,

Do you have the minutes from this meeting? It is very frustrating that they do not deliver any communication from these meetings. I have tried to call to get info about a more in depth listing of the MF breakdown as well as the number of units actually owned by DRI but can't get anywhere with anyone. If anyone can help I would be very grateful.

I also have seen previous posts on tug about an owner's forum. Is there one anywhere at this time for Polo Towers?

I save a lot of stuff from PT's. If they send it, I generally have it. I'll have to dig through my folder to see if I can find the minutes. I know I have the breakdown for the MF's.

As far as I know, there is no forum dedicated strictly to Polo Towers. There are a couple of DRI Yahoo groups. One that is mostly European that is very active and another American that is not so active. The European forum has a lot of idle chit chat.

I had started a Polo Towers Owners forum at one time but, there was such little interest that it wasn't worth maintaining. Essentially, after a couple of weeks there were only 3 or 4 active posters with a few more watching from the sidelines.

I believe the first link is to the group that is mostly European and the second might have more members from the U.S. At one time, I was a member of the first group but, there was far to much idle chit chat and far to many messages daily to keep up with. Many of the European issues didn't really concern me that much.

I never belonged to the other group. It seemed to be more like the Polo Towers forum I had started a couple of years ago, somewhat idle. Perhaps things have picked up in the last couple of years.

At any rate, I follow far to many forums as it is and just don't have the time to keep up with every other forum or board out there. So I limit myself to this forum, TUG, the Ocean Pointe Yahoo forum and Cruisecritic. I do sometimes still visit some of the Vegas forums but, since we don't have near the interest in Vegas we had a few years back and, since Vegas has gone more towards upscale glass palaces rather than themed resorts, I only visit them on rare occasion.
