  • Paying Annual MF using points-process

OK, I see that I can pay my 2009 MF's (for my deeded weeks I have assigned to the Club in exchange foe annual Club points). the deadline is Jan 31, 2009. However, the DRI call ctr rep says it takes 5 - 6 weeks to process the request.

Question....my resort's MF is due around January 10th. If I decide today to use some of my 2009 pts to pay my 2009 MF, will my deeded weeks' acct be charged a late fee b/c the MF will not be paid in full say until Jan 26th (2009) due to the Club/DRI taking 5-6 weeks to process my request?

The DRI rep I spoke to on Saturday did not know how this works.

the online access to my accting history (what is due, past credits, etc) at dri.com is lacking, to say the least. a cust svc mgr told me last week there is a known glitch with their dri.com possibly not showing an acct's current balance. in my case, i own multiple deeded weeks assigned to the Club; however, only one acct (and the MF's due) shows up on dri.com's online statement page(s) (info is provided by a third party link?).

They cut a check and send it to your HOA. We did this back on Nov. 12th or 13th and our MF's are not showing the credit online. After Christmas I plan to call Polo Towers directly to see if they've received the payment. If they haven't, I'll be asking them if I will be able to get a refund if the check arrives after I've made my payment. One way or another my account will be paid in full ontime. I had thought that making the request the first week of December should be plenty of time. Next year I'll make my decision earlier and make the request in October.

thanks for posting. let us know how it goes after christmas. for sure one area lacking in dri is their mf/acct process. i had to ask a polo cust svc mgr email me my statements so i know how much i owe this upcoming yr in mf's (i have had several credits placed on the accts the past few months). now i just need to review the emails to see if they look accurate !

one thing-I do NOT think Polo can cut you a check if the amt (from DRI) arrives. earlier in the year, i had a $amt sent to Polo via an escrow acct- Polo said they cannot mail me a check for that amt; rather, that amt simply sits in the acct until something (e.g. MF, SA, etc) comes due on the acct. i remember thing this (being able to refund cash balances on the acct) was pretty bad at the time.

again, let us know what happens on your end.

I sort of figure that's how it will go. I've already learned that once they overbill you and have your money, you won't get it back in the form of anything other than a credit. They might have to pay all sorts of other bills but, when it comes to writing an owner a check, they forget how to do that.

When they argued with me over the $155 I didn't owe on THE Club dues, I paid it rather than fight them over my membership, which I was certain they'd pull in a heartbeat for uncollected funds, even if those funds were billed in error. I have several copies of correspondce arguing it out and finally, resolution where they realized I was in fact over billed. Even though it was only a credit back on my credit card, they refused to do this, issuing me a credit on my account instead. Seems once DRI has your money, they hang onto it for you.

OK, here's the deal with my points for fee's payment.

It's still not showing up online and, well, it's that time of year when they must get paid. So I paid the balance I owed on THE Club membership fee, submitted a payment for my Suite's at Polo Towers unit and called customer service to see what's going on with my Villa's at Polo Towers unit and the points for fee's request I had made.

I was told that it takes 4 to 6 weeks to process the payment. It's been 6 weeks, the fee's are due and I don't want them to be late. I was told they have the record of the request and that I won't be charged a late fee. They had the correct balance due on this particular account so I paid the balance on the phone.

Hopefully this will all work out like I hoped it would. This year things were up in the air to long because I thought I had an agreement to sell my units back to DRI but that plan fell through. Next year, I'll make my decision in September or October to give them plenty of time to process the request and pay the balance due on that contract so that it should all be processed at once.

Now all I need to do it figure out what to do with the points I have remaining. With the changes I.I. and DRI have made to the points required for exchange, I sort of have either more or less points than what I need. Since I was planning on making Flex Change exchanges into Branson with these points during off peak times, I should have more points than I need. I'll have to figure out what I need before the cut off date so that any unused points can be saved to next year.

isn't it too late to roll pts to 2009?

The points I'm talking about are my 2009 points and rolling them into 2010. I don't have any 2008 points remaining.
