Take a look at eBay this morning. There's scads of TS for 99¢ or $1 many with no closing costs (and no bids).

Someone has bid on a Villas at Polo Towers 2BR for 99¢ and a summer Greeensprings 4BR for the same, but a Morritts 2BR poolside has no bids at 99¢!

    Marriott Marbella for $400!
... not enough time for all the timeshares ®

With the recesion now is a good time to buy but, some of these auctions will get bid up right at the end. Others, not so much. DRI units don't seem to be worth a plug nickel at this particular moment. I wonder if that has anything to do with the rapidly increasing fee's DRI has hit owners with this past year?

With resales in the toilet it makes one wonder how well DRI's "new sales" are going?? If they are just as weak we can hope for more of a shift in corporate attention to keeping the customer base DRI has. i.e., current owners! If on the other hand they just look to us as a source of increased revenue (i.e., double digit increases in fees) then a corporate death spiral will surely follow.

This kind of environment (of perfect storm size) is what will separate the men from the boys. The likes of Marriotts will likely survive, but how about DRI ?

I am rooting for the home team, of course as most of you (I assume) who have a vested interest in DRI.

I don't know. Right now, if they went under and I could eliminate their MF's and club dues without the issue of selling my units, I'm not so certain I'd lose any sleep of the issue.

IMO, DRI is going to have to curb it's management fee's and increase it's cash reserves to survive. To me, that means this cat will have to change it's spots. I just don't see that happening. Instead, I forsee increasing fee's as dissatisfaction amoung owners increases, thus forcing fee's for those remaining even higher. IOW, a slow death spiral that will eventually consume us all.
