  • Diamond Selections-CLUB Pts for Message !

After a few calls (including talking to a couple of half-clueless DRI reps), here is how it works.

    1) Determine if there is a participating SPA/massage place in your location (go to SpaFinder.com information on Day, Medical and Resort Spas, massages, manicures and more - IF YES then proceed, else forget it...

    2) Call DRI 877-DRI-CLUB

    3) Tell the rep you want to exchange N amt of pts for a Club Selection voucher for a Great American Days massage. Each certificate/voucher is currently worth $100 and costs you 1633 CLUB points. Each transaction (whether you order 1, 2, 3, or 100 vouchers) requires a processing (ranges from $0 to $42, depending on your CLUB elite level)

    4) within 2-3 weeks, you will receive the voucher(s) in the US Mail.
    5) Call Great American Days (phone# is at Home : Great American Days - surfing yoga, vacation, rodeo, gifts, movie tickets, graduation gifts, vacations, drag racing, spa), give them the voucher #(s) and ask them to book you a time at the SPA/massage place.

    6) You just show up at the SPA/massage place and enjoy!

*** You can select anything from the SPA's menu, and use as many or as few $100 vouchers to cover the services - you will pay the difference out-of-pocket if your charges are greater than the amount of the voucher(s) you use.

At $100 per 1633 pts, that amts to $0.061/pt (excluding the processing fee, if any), so slightly better than using pts for MF's (currently at $0.05/pt). Aside from the pt 'value', nice little touch/offering for CLUB members.

As shown at Home : Great American Days - surfing yoga, vacation, rodeo, gifts, movie tickets, graduation gifts, vacations, drag racing, spa, there are many other items to use pts for, and I think the booking process is the same/similar. For the $dollar value of each voucher for the other actvities (other than massages), do NOT ask DRI reps (unless you wish to get frusturated), call and ask greatamericandays directly.

Not necessarily a bad deal if you have points to burn, enjoy a massage and have a place available to use the certificate. It would be extremely helpful if facilities that accept these certificates are available in locations in which DRI has resorst.

Perhaps DRI could make it easier if they would list such facilities as available with exchange requests/reservations. It would be even better if they offered this option along with the exchange/reservation process so that it could be paid for at the time of reservation. Sort of a way to plan this as part of your vacation experience.

It would be much easier (relaxation simplified) if you could select this as an option when you book your reservation or exchange online. Of course, having your own personel who answer phones well versed in this service BEFORE offering this option would have been a no brainer IMHO. When your own employee's aren't educated in all the options offered or, can't easily locate these option when an owner/member calls in, it begins to take the simplified out of the relaxation.

Options are great. Being able to access them easily would be ideal. Combine simplicity with options and DRI could actually be a leader in the industry.

I know at lake tahoe, where we just came back, the DRI rep I spoke to tried to take a stab and said according to the Home : Great American Days - surfing yoga, vacation, rodeo, gifts, movie tickets, graduation gifts, vacations, drag racing, spa site (which only lists major US cities), there was no local massage business - but, today after I got back I out through spafinder.com that there are over a dozen places available in the area, one of the best in the area (voted by some local magazine/paper) was four short blocks away and another was 1/2 mile away at the marriott timber lodge, which my wife loves (been there several times).

uneducated rep = losing situation for all

better educated rep = all benefits

I guess, I will save massage certif for my next trip !
