Hi
I raised a thread on this a while back but it sort of slipped off-topic so I'm starting again. I've now had a response from DRI and thought that you might be interested. I've copied and posted the post below from one I made earlier today on a Yahoo group that I belong to. I'd be interested to know what other DRI members think...
---------------------------------------------------------------------
OK, finally got a response from DRI about this following some
intervention from Patrick (thanks Patrick) and another posting on the
DRI forum. This is quite complicated so stay with me
Ruth Thomas phoned yesterday to try to understand what my query was.
I explained that the II categories and the DRI points charged didn't
tie up. For example a studio at an II 'premier' resort and a studio
at an II 'select' resort were both being charged at 4000 points. My
understanding was that the 'select' resort should have been charged
at the DRI 'moderate' rate, i.e. 3250 points. I told her that Sarah
Hulme had stated that our categories were the same as II categories
and referred to the folowing message:
In message number 113455 Patrick replied to my question as follows:
"I have referenced your questions to Sarah Hulme.
II's three resort levels: "no category, select and premier, do in
fact equate with the DRI levels of economy, moderate and premium.
We (DRI) use the same scale but, at the moment refer to them with
different terminology."
Ruth went off to do some investigating and the upshot seems to be
that the II categories are decided by the quality of the resort but
the points value that II charge DRI are decided by the customer
feedback (?????)
So it seems to be the case that although II know a resort is of an
inferior quality they still decide that DRI members should pay at the
higher price.
Does this seem fair and equitable to any other members? (if you're
still awake at this point that is...)
So we're back to square one. If we want to place a pending request
and there is no current availability to check the points value
against then the only way of finding out how many points a resort
will cost is to call reservations.
However, my main grouse is that II seem to have gone to a great deal
of trouble with Price Waterhouse to make a system fair and equitable
but then decided to throw all this out the window when it comes to
DRI. And DRI have accepted this situation!!!!!!!!!
