THE Club is not mandatory, but I do agree with you that both Sunterra didn't and DRI really doesn't seem to understand that a happy owner makes THE Club a much better thing. Even if that happy owner bought second hand and was charged a 'nominal' fee to re-enter THE Club.
Great point! And that is kind of what I was trying say. It really shouldn't matter what I paid for the timeshare either retail or resale but that now that I'm an owner, or member of THE Club, my membership should be of real value to DRI since I plan to pay my maintenance fees and use my timeshare or club points. They should provide a detailed welcome package to every new owner or transfer owner. Really go out of their way to make them feel at home.

I don't know if you have noticed, but on the DRI website they have a new publication called The Navigator. I am not sure if they will be mailing this or not, they might, but it is similar to what Y-ASK posted about having a welcoming package of information.
When I joined I did receive a welcome package from Epic and when I bought additional points from DRI I received another one called Diamond Selections. Maybe it's because I bought them from the developer is why I got them. However, when one buys a new house from the developer you do get a whole lot of information from them about your brand new house. Then it is up to the seller to provide whatever information to the next buyer. It certainly is not the same.
When you buy resale, I think there is an obligation to at least to be given information on how to utilize the system. Most of that is in the booklets that are online and also in the contracts that are signed with the rules and such. Is that not correct?
