  • The Club and Guests

Well I got two completely different answers to my question from Diamond, shocker! I'm wanting to send my parents to Hawaii using a CLUB property. Do I have to be there to check them in? One person told me that I had to be present at check in since I am using the CLUB. Another told me to just list my parents name and I don't have to be there. Anyone know? I would HATE to send my parents there and they give them the run around at check in. I booked at KAHANA FALLS MAUI, I think it is a RCI property. Anyone stay there before? Thanks for any info.

I'm pretty sure you can put the reservation in their name. Seems to me I have done that in the past for use by my brother. There was no cost involved.

First you say that you 'want' to send your parents using a CLUB property, then you say you booked Kahana Falls - Maui. Kahana Falls - Maui is not a CLUB property, maybe you booked it through CLUB using Club Select? Club properties you can easily put a guest name on and they can check in, there is currently no cost for this, everyone please pay attention to what I just said. Club Select you have to use yourself according to the current rules.

I did book this through Club Select. So the first person I called is correct, we would have to be there to check in our guests? Sorry, this is all so confusing. Sometimes I'm ready to throw in the towel and forget all of this.

That's what I guessed, unfortunately, you can't cancel a Club Select reservation and recoup the points or $.

I think your best shot is to call DRI Customer service, explain the situation and plead with them to allow you to have your parents check in without you since they are family.

Failing that, another option might be to add their name to the list of people allowed to use your account.
“Maybe you shouldn't dress like that.”

“This is a blouse and skirt. I don't know what you're talking about.”

            “You shouldn't wear that body.”

The second person said the woman I spoke to was incorrect, they can check in without us. Should I get it in writing?

You might post the question at the DRI Forums message board. You will get an "official" answer there, though it may take several days for the reply to be prepared and authorized.

                  Spence,

I have canceled a Club Select reservation before and I was given all of my points back. I think the regular club rules apply to when you cancel your reservation.

Here's what "in writing" on the Club Select Site:
                    Add Additional Guest

                    Enter additional guest information below.
When finished click 'Save & Continue'.
If you do not have an additional guest, select 'No Additional Guests' to continue.

THE Club® Select does not provide an opportunity for "alternative" guests (guests to arrive instead of you - the reserving party). However, we encourage you to add names of adult guests traveling with you - as "additional" guests. Those names will be provided to the resort as in-bound guests for check-in purposes, along with your name. We hope each one of you enjoys your THE Club® Select vacation.

Maybe a change since my experience, maybe someone could call the current call center and see what their current answer is.

From the DRI forum, the rules to cancel CLUB SELECT ARE:

The cancellation policy for THE Club SelectSM reservation, using points, follows the same rules as THE ClubSM reservations. They are as follows:

If the reservation is cancelled 60 days in advance, 100 percent of the points will be returned

If the reservation is cancelled 59-30 days in advance,75 percent of the points will be forfeited

If you cancel 29-14 days in advance, 50 percent of the points will be forfeited

If you cancel 13 days in advance, all of the points will be forfeited

When making a reservtion for THE Club SelectSM using a credit card instead of points, the reservation cancellation guidelines are as follows:

If the reservation is cancelled 8 or more days prior to check-in, the cost of 1 night of stay is forfeited

If the reservation is cancelled 3-7 days prior to check-in, 50% of the cost of stay is forfeited

If the reservation is cancelled less than 3 days prior to check-in, 100% of the cost of stay is forfeited.
