  • Has anyone bought two sets of points resale in the same Trust before?

I currently have 6,500 DRI points and am looking to add another 3,000 or so. I am NOT a Club member right now but own in the Florida Trust.

My question is this--if I buy an additional 3,000 points in the Florida Trust, will DRI combine them all together, or will I only be able to book up to 3,000 points from one account and 6,500 from another? I guess I could separately book hotels and combine the points that way but it would be "nicer" if they were combined since they are in the same Trust.

I then want to convert to the Club later at some point and so far there seems to be all sorts of confusion aout this. It sounds like sometimes DRI lets you do it for $3,000 and other times they require you to buy additional points to do this. I don't want to buy any additional points because once I'm near 10,000 pts I don't want any higher maintenance fees. So I'm hoping I can still just pay for the Club membership and be done with it.

My only other option seems to be buying 10,000 points resale and then selling my 6,500...but that's a huge pain too because it seems to take DRI forver to process the paperwork even when you can find a buyer.

    Thanks for the help!

These are good questions and I'm not sure of the answers for a non Club member. As a CLUB member, you can have say a 6500 point package and a 3000 point package and they would be under the same account so you should only have to pay one trust fee and would be able to book reservations for the total of 9500 point amount.

Question for a TRUST but not CLUB member. Are you able to book reservations for 50% off when in the 59 day window? My assumption is yes, but wanted to double check for a friend who is thinking of purchasing into the trust only at this point.

Yes, as a Trust member you can still get 50% off reservations under 60 days.

I was going to buy an additional 2,000 points from DRI and upgrade to a Club membership, but then I found out that the points were in the California Collection and my other points are in the US Collection. Because of this they were going to charge me a $200 operational fee each year for EACH collection. That means I'd be paying $200 more for nothing, as the US Collection already has the two California Collection resorts.

Needless to say I backed out of the deal and am now trying to figure out if I can just buy additional points in the same Trust and then combine them together somehow without paying separate Operational Fees each year...

      Thanks!
