I'm waiting on hold trying to understand why I cannot upgrade, when no paper documents or contracts inform Club members some units cannot be obtained via upgrade. I think this is absurd. Apparently it's diamonds policy, did anyone here know of this policy?

Maybe you could ask for definitive rules on their own forum or on Yahoo Groups where they have their Chief Experience Officer answering some mail.
KBC and Flamingo Beach, they,ve upgraded by view, Powhatan they upgraded by size only originally and now they seem to sometimes do it by size within type. Who knows what tomorrows's rules may be.
They may be now saying that Presidential has no smaller like type unit to upgrade from.... not enough time for all the timeshares ®

Had Similar Problem
I had a similar problem trying to get an upgrade into the Presidential suite in one of the Florida Properties a two years ago. I think it was for Daytona Beach. I could not get the upgrade. The resort showed inventory, but when I called Diamond they said itwas not available. I called the resort again and it was available.
Someone on DRI asked a similar question on the website last week about the upgrades. According to the DRI rep's response there is no limitation except by availability. He also explained the upgrade policy and provided examples. I guess the best way to see what you upgrade to by looking at the brown book DRI gave us called Destinations, Discovery and Diamond Selections and look at the rooms and you can just see the next step up from where you want to upgrade.

They could not find anything in writing other than the clause we can change the rules at any time in the future, so I would just like to state that not all units can be obtained via upgrade. I booked a 2 bedroom at KBC and asked for the presidential unit. I had the second most expensive unit and the only other 2 bedroom unit. They stated they have never upgraded anyone to the Presidential at KBC. Anyways they must declare the rules, even if they change them in the future or else it really isn't full disclosure. I talked to multiple persons, and I had each of them look for the documentation prior to hearing the catch all rule in the end, and I got tired of dealing with the idiots. I'm not impressed Cloobeck you weasel!

Who Do You Work For?

They can get better rates for all the rooms as opposed to an upgrade. Upgrades are to be given to the next level from what you reserved.

Of course he should be upgraded. I don't think it's fair. But with only 3 presidential suits they would rather rent it or have some one use more points than just an upgrade. Now when he takes his update tour, the rep will tell him he needs to own here and have ocean front priority for the pres. suit.
Main reason though, 3 suits
