  • Wireless Internet Access now available at selected Sunterra resorts

The following selected Club Sunterra Resorts are the very first to offer wireless internet access. With wireless internet you can connect your laptop to the internet as soon as you enter the resort so there is no need for annoying cables or wires.

The Club Sunterra wireless internet enabled resorts are:

    Cypress Pointe
    Daytona Beach Regency
    Desert Paradise
    Grand Beach Vacation Resort
    Lake Tahoe
    Ridge on Sedona
    Scottsdale Links
    Scottsdale Villa Mirage
    Sedona Summit
    Villas de Santa Fe

These are just the first resorts in the implementation of wireless internet across our resorts worldwide.

I just got back from Sunterra Villa Mirage

They offer $7.95 for 24 hours of wireless in your room.. They had a weekly rate, but I forget how much.

You also can get free wireless in the lounge, but it logs you out after 20 minutes, then you need to re-log in

The activity center has two PC's and the lounge has one.. all with free internet. They limit you to 30 minutes if someone is waiting.

An HOA president on the OBX who works in the computer industry swears that it is illegal to charge money for use of wireless internet. Is he wrong or is Sunterra out of line?

Tons of companies charge for wireless internet. Why would your HOA president say it's illegal?

Most hotels provide it for free for their guests. But, that's a choice not a legal mandate.

            Free wireless internet also available

I just wanted to repeat CaliDave's statement above that free wireless internet IS available at the lounge/lobby. You can bring your own laptop down or use the computers provided by the resort.

              I believe he is wrong.

McDonalds, FedEx Kinkos, etc have wireless internet, but you need to pay. You pay by subscribing to their service provider for the day. IE Kinko's uses TMobile.

Powhatan charges the rates discussed above for the other Sunterra resorts. They have an ISP that has put in the required hardware and that's who you pay, not Sunterra.

Powhatan has free terminals in the lobby area/business center and had free WiFi there but I'm told that they have moved the free WiFi to 'The Grille' the onsite casual restaurant. Probably a good move!

Sunterra Po`ipu has cable modem in the rooms. I actually prefer that since that allows me to use my VOIP adapter.

                      WorldMark Windsor Internet Rates

I just stayed at the WorldMark Windsor, CA. Resort and the rates were better.

                      The WorldMark, Windsor CA. cable modem rates were;

                      1 day $4.95

                      1 week $15.95.

Or I could drive 1 mile or 2 away to the Windsor Village Green and get on line with a free wireless internet connection.

Yep - wardriving is almost always a viable alternative.
