  • Sales Presentations at Lake Tahoe Resort

I would appreciate anybody's help if they have attended (or will attend) a sales presentation at Lake Tahoe Resort.

Let me give some background info:

We had points in the US Collection and attended a sales presentation at the Lake Tahoe Resort where we purchased an additional 2500 points. During the sales presentation we asked whether we would be paying higher maintenance fees by having points in 2 different collections, and we were told no. A month later, after receiving our bill for the maintenance fees, we saw that there was a $180 operational fee for the California collection on the bill, in addition to the per-point fee. We already pay a $180 operational fee for the US Collection, and had we purchased the 2500 points within the US Collection we would not be paying the duplicate $180 operational fee every year.

Anyway, my husband spoke with the Sales Director at the Lake Tahoe Resort and requested that this duplicate $180 operational fee be disclosed to members during the sales presentation. My feeling is that most DRI members belong to the US Collection, so most members attending sales presentations at the Lake Tahoe Resort would be paying the extra $180 if they decide to purchase additional points there.

Please, anyone that attends a sales presentation, see if they tell you that you will have to pay 2 operational fees if you own points in 2 collections. If they don't mention it, then ask them directly about it. I would like to know if the Sales Director is going to follow through with this issue.

From what we have witnessed here, the MF terminology is played very close to the vest by DRI sales teams. They DO NOT answer the "Will I be paying more MFs" question with "no, but there are more Operational Fees" (TRUST Overhead fee).
