  • Where would you like to see a new resort?

As the future seems to be affiliated resorts as opposed to purchasing new ones, where would you like them to be?
I appreciate that exchanges are available through II and RCI but there are a few places I would like to see added to the portfolio.....

    LONDON
    NEW YORK CITY
    MORE OF THE GREEK ISLANDS
    CYPRUS
    TUNISIA
    MOROCCO
    TEXAS' GULF COAST
    JACKSON HOLE/GRAND TETONS AREA

feel free to add to the list, if we don't ask then we may not get what we want (just like at Xmas !!)
Life may not be the party we hoped it would be, but while we are here we might as well dance......

Well, London for sure. In fact any of the major cities would be fabulous...

New York, San Francisco, Washington DC area, Paris, Rome, Tokyo, Copenhagan, Edinbough, Seattle, St. Petersburg, Vienna, Barcelona, Mexico City. You get the idea. I don't want to just go to some resort area and ski or sunbathe. I want to visit museums and historical sites, too. There are way too few urban timeshares for those of us who want to see more of the world than a resort beach or ski resort. I can dream.

As a resident of the western Us I'd like something besides Sedona, Las Vegas and Scottsdale. How about something on the SoCal coast or along the Oregon Coast. Even a nice spot in the Rockies would be a change of pace. Maybe Breckenridge or Vail.

Although it could be argued that the inventory is somewhat duplicated I would like to see the acquisition of Bluegreen. Although I must acknowledge that I would appreciate more city options I personally do not mind traveling into the city from a resort area, especially if it keeps these fees from escalating. Too many cities are difficult to visit in the system however.

We're getting rid of timeshares because they no longer suit our traveling style: we now prefer urban areas most of the time.

I'd love to see more DRI availability in the mid-Atlantic and New England areas. We love to sightsee and shop (we do our part in keeping the local economies going). I live in PA. The closest DRI resort is Williamsburg, which we absolutely love. If there was something closer - Hershey, Poconos, etc - that I could get without having to exchange into II, I would even buy more points (resale of course!).

Bearing in mind that the question was asked about affiliations ....

There are many resorts available in the west besides Sedona, Las Vegas, and Scottsdale. There's Coronado, Tahoe, Palm Springs, San Luis Obispo, Steamboat Springs, Sun Valley, Santa Fe, Newport, Sun River, Park city, Leavenworth, Ocean City, and Whistler.

The issue with many of those affiliations, of course, is lack of inventory. I find that the greatest availability is with the Vacation Internationale properties, but that inventory is usually not available in 7-day increments.

“This is a blouse and skirt. I don't know what you're talking about.”

              “You shouldn't wear that body.”

Hmmm. It is good to see new affilitated resorts in new locations, however, all new acquisitions by Diamonds in the past two years are disappointing, because the points required are unrealistically high.

I have seen JinQiao in Beijing on Diamonds for a few times, and the points required is 10,000. I traded into JinQiao this year via II for two weeks but the total points required within 59 days was 3,000. Would a normal person book it through Diamonds or II, even after factoring in the exchange fees?

Other locations like Thailand, Indonesia, India and South Africa can be obtained through Independents like DAE at a much cheaper cost. I can always get a fancy resort in Mexico via II for as low as 1000 to 1500 points but via Diamonds I would need 8000 to 10000.

Unless these new affilitations are a fair deal point wise, I am not interested in any new locations. In the past two years, I have used my points exclusively through II, and I am very satisfied.

This is all a ploy to entice you to buy more points, that's all it is. As insinuated above most affiliations are too expensive and have extremely limited availability, it's just to be able to put it on the list.

That seems to ring true. The New England acquisitions are nice, but it appears nearly impossible to book.

I would also like to see more urban options. I have had good luck booking at affiliate resorts, although I usually take trips during off-peak times.

I lived in a town called Manitou Springs just few miles down from Pikes Peak Colorado.

Few years ago we took our daughter back to show her where I lived as a child until 1964 and we stayed in a hotel for six days because of no timeshares.

So much to see in this area and I kept thinking this was ridiculous that no company built a timeshare resort up UTE Pass near Pikes Peak or Cripple Creek area.

We are not into skiing so Vail area out of the question. We stayed in Vail one year and spent two nights there well renting in other area's by the night and this was when our daughter was only four years old so its been eighteen years ago.

Something in the heart of Toronto, Montreal, Quebec City and Ottawa would be a change from the typical Skiing and Great Lakes resorts we have in Ontario and Quebec.
