Is anyone else excited about the inclusion of Hapimag resorts? Eventually will access be available at the majority of their resorts?

I am excited with the new additions. There are 4 studio weeks available for June 2010 at Prague. Points required are quite reasonable at 6500. Too bad I only have 2400 points left for next year.

My understanding is that this is a similar relationship to the one instituted with Raintree. There is a limited number of resorts currently included with a limited number of unit-weeks.

        I'm going to Prague!

Well I'm certainly excited. I've just booked a 4-night break in the Hapimag resort in Prague. It's right on Wenceslas Sq so a perfect position... It's good that they're offering 3- and 4-night stays as a week in a city centre is probably too much.

Well everyone is different, but until recently I was looking at buying into a system that made European (city) travel easier possibly Hapimag or Royal Holiday and now I may not be so inclined. So I can honestly say that Diamond made a move that saved me money I'm going to say that again for dramatic effect Diamond resorts saved me money!!! If only they bought Bluegreen last Fall ........ I guess it's too late since I purchased a UDI. at Shenandoah Crossings. Now I would have mixed feelings.

          S. Cloobeck I'm currently a fan if you enjoy this new found adoration don't increase my fees this year by 20% !

            more hapimag affiliates

In the next few days DRI will announce new affiliate resorts in Bodrum,Turkey and Marrakech,Morocco....all very exciting I hear you say! Just make sure you read the small print with regards the Marrakech resort, there is a 25 euro ($37) per person per day extra charge! .....not exactly inexpensive now is it on top of the 6000 or7000 points!
I hope this is not the beginning of a new trend with affiliated resorts.
Life may not be the party we hoped it would be, but while we are here we might as well dance......

That's the "trick" that Royal Holiday Club is doing with many of their "affiliated" resorts. This enables them to get a cheaper lease of their block of units because the resort will recoup "mandatory" fees from the guest, thus getting more money.

                Extra Charges

At check In: There is a mandatory surcharge of €25 per person per day payable at the resort. This charge includes breakfast buffet, daily room cleaning and transfers to and from Marrakesh airport (RAK).

I also hope this is not the norm. Pretty expensive breakfast, transportation and cleaning service.

                    It is not Diamond's fault.

I checked the rental market. You can book a week at HAPIMAG PALMERAIE MARRAKESCH. After paying the rental, you still have to pay the hotel the additional charges.

Discounted 7 Night Special - Book Discounted 7 Night Special - Super Holiday Rentals.

                    Additional Charges
175 Euros p.p.p.w. will be charged by the Resort for daily hotel service, daily breakfast buffet, daily room cleaning, 3 x daily shuttle service to Marrakech centre and transfers from and to Marrakesh Airport (RAK). Guests staying for two weeks will be charged 125 Euros p.p. for the second week.

An unecessary rip-off whichever way you look at it?

I think it is. While we're not the ones who set this up and maybe DRI isn't either, do Hapimag guests pay it? And even if they do, why doesn't DRI fold all the expenses into the points required to really make it Relaxation - Simplified.

Per Ben at the Diamond Message Boards the charge is imposed on all resort guests; it's not a DRI charge.

Given that it's a resort charge, it makes sense to me that the charge would be collected from the guest instead of trying to do it by monetizing points.
“Maybe you shouldn't dress like that.”

“This is a blouse and skirt. I don't know what you're talking about.”

                          “You shouldn't wear that body.”

Doesn,t matter how you look at it,or whether it is justified or not.....is this the kind of resort we as members want our club to affiliate with in the future??

Simplicity is good if we can roll all costs into points required.

The issue is additional fees in the timeshare world. In Europe, some resorts, DRI or other chains or independents, charge additional fees like electricity, facilitiy use, and parking. DVC charges Magic Express. Are these expenses fair? I don't have an answer but for sure I don't like the fees being mandatory.

Yes, these are new affilitates I would like to see. Everytime I see something new with DRI, I would search RCI, II, independents and rental markets to explore if DRI new options are good deals. I have said in previous threads JinQiao in Beijing is a very expensive option because this property can be found in II, DAE and rental markets at a much lower cost.

I would avoid all DRI new options if there is a cheaper alternative. That's it.
