  • Very Good News for Williamsburg!!!

The amusement park empire of InBev (Busch Gardens / Seaworld) has been sold intact to the Blackstone Group and will be operated by current management as is - the only change announced so far is the removal of the Clydesdale Teams from the parks.

Since the 52 Billion $ merger of Anheuser-Busch & InBev, the future of BG in Wburg has been in question. What if no buyer came forward? InBev has no interest in the entertainment business. What would a Wburg look like without BG?

Thankfully, we will not have to even think about that for now! Being a huge fan of all the BG parks, this makes my day!!!

The only announcement that could make me happier is if access and parking at Universal Studios in Orlando (50% owned by Blackstone) is added to the Busch Gardens all park Platinum Pass!

I still remember as a law student going to the Busch Gardens in Tampa which had the added benefit of plenty of free beer. I am sure that is going away, too, if it hasn't already.

      Why Under DRI

What does this post have to do with Diamond Resorts? Shouldn't this be posted somewhere else? I am just a little confused.

Maybe because DRI has two resorts in Williamsburg and Busch Gardens is a big attraction there? How else do you entertain kids there?

The free beer has been gone since the AB->InBev purchase. I too enjoyed Beer School at Sea World San Antonio.

This is good news for the Busch parks. Blackstone has a strong history of operating similar venues (Legoland in San Diego, several top-notch UK parks) and they know what they are doing.

That is good news for all the timeshare resorts in Williamsburg, the local community and the Commonwealth of Virginia as a whole.

Glad to hear that things won't change much. We loved Busch Gardens and were very concerned about what would happen with new owners. We will miss the Clydesdales - my daughter is a big horse fan and looks forward to seeing them every year. Anyone have any ideas on what will happen to the types of drinks that will be served at the parks? How about admission prices?
We'll be back next summer and look forward to our visit.

Williamsburg seemed to be lightly visited when we went there in June. Busch Gardens was the only exception. I had been there before and if we didn't have the grandkids with us, we would have passed and spent our time in the colonial area, plantations and whatever else we haven't already done.
