  • Greensprings & Powhatan Annual Meetings

    Dear Greensprings Vacation Resort Owner,
The Annual Meeting of Greensprings Vacation Resort Owners Association will be held on Friday, April 16, 2010, in Williamsburg. Proxy materials, including additional meeting information, will be sent to you in March. We hope to see you there.
Sincerely, Greensprings Vacation Resort Owners Association

I understand that Powhatan's Annual Meeting will be Sat April 17th.
I plan to be there again this year (already have my reservation at Powhatan) and will write a report as I did for last year's meetings.

Can anyone figure out what the significance of this stupid looking house is? It's at the top of the Powhatan email announcement. I've seen it used previously and it makes no sense.

And how about this one on the Greensprings email, this ain't Greensprings?

What year will DRI start refuribishing the remaining of Greenspring units?

I'll give you a few political answers (that is: answering your question at the same time as not directly answering your question).

        1) There is no need to spend our MF dollars in doing a major renovation when any of the units in the entire complex are still perfectly fine.

        2) Every year they do minor renovations of many units, fixing and replacing whatever needs it.

        3) I've specifically asked your question regularly to management and I always get the response - not in the foreseeable future.

This is the exact history of renovation (or lack of it) for the old Sunterra group. They seemed to feel that a new sofa or tv or carpet made the units new again. It fact it ends up looking like a Kmart supplied mis-mash with no design appeal. The money gets spent but the results are poor. Then when it finally is clear a unified, total renovation from top to bottom is needed there aren't enough funds to do it. You know what that means. The final straw was a poorly managed renovation project that also ran over budget often leading to no real finish even for all those dollars spent. So then the NEXT round is planned and in reality the resort never looks fresh and up to date. The perfect example of this flawed process lives down the way at Powatan where there have been more renovations announced than anywhere on earth but not one has ever resulted in more than a few units actually looking good.

That was the Sunterra way. I hope that DRI does it better but what you are saying sounds too much like more of the "bad old days" to me.

We had 2 units at Powhatan over Thanksgiving that were awful.
