  • DVC starting to offer tour promotions

    Posted on another Disney board:

Just got back, and in our room at POR there was a card stating that you would be given $100 Disney gift card for touring DVC.
As far as I know, this is a first. Interesting development for "the timeshare that sells itself", for sure.

That is an intersting development. I wonder if they'll be offering that at Disneyland as well. That is a tour that I would do for the gift. I would enjoy a DVC tour anyway, would assume they'd be very low pressure, and I could always use a gift card!

Apparently they have opened a preview center somewhere in NY. They offered us $50 to tour. Got an invitation in the mail.

I don't know if it's a "preview center," but they set up shop in the Roosevelt Field Mall last year and have been promoting/advertising it throughout the mall. It's a pretty good location for targeting families - that mall is always mobbed.

          Wow !

The most I ever got was the ice cream sundae in the preview center. (Will work for ice cream ! )

Things must be tough all over !

They gave me $30 gift card and a beach bag for touring and they must have sprinkled the darn thing with pixie dust because I fell for it. It was my only developer purchase and it wasn't even my first TS tour.
That was 5 years ago though.

We got a free meal and I think some other trinkets when we bought DVC about 10 years ago. It was about equal to $50 or so. So this isn't that new.

Two years ago when we were staying at SSR we almost took the tour but passed - at the time all they were giving away was ice cream and a couple of fast passes - not quite enough to justify killing 2-3 hours of vacation time !

We're DVC owners at SSR now (resale ), and one of the other promos they've offered in the past few months is a $25 gift card to members (and I think the person calling) if they can get someone to call and listen to the sales spiel.
