Disney's Give a Day, Get a Day promotion

I was going to suggest that people consider donating their time to the Disney Give a Day, Get a Day promotion. DH and I donated our time this morning to a local group enrolled in the promotion. For an easy morning of making alphabet flash cards to help kids learn, we are getting a free day at Disney. Unfortunately, I see that they have had their millionth person sign up so the promotion is closed.

I think it was a great idea. Hats off to Disney!

Second that. I wouldn't be going to Disney World this year if they hadn't done the Give a Day thingie, since the only one in our family who really wanted to hit Disney middle daughter and she didn't want to cough up the cash herself. Nor did I, but we volunteer anyhow so that opportunity worked out great. And now that the Disney promo is over, my eldest son (15) wants to volunteer at the organization we found through Give a Day as well. Apparently he was afraid if he joined us before, he'd somehow get shanghaied into a Disney vacation.

Couldn't talk daughter into going to Epcot, though; she wants to do the Magic Kingdom. Maybe I'll drag someone to Epcot the next time we get down there. Guess I'll spare eldest son that torture and take hubby instead. Or maybe eldest son will be old enough by that point that Disney won't be so terrifying.
