RCI and Disney Vacation Club Announce Renewal of Affiliation Agreement

It's described as a "multi-year" agreement, so that means at least two more, I'd guess.

As an II member (not RCI), I am very saddened by this. Hopefully Disney will go back to II sometime in the future.

One of the mistakes DVC made - II was second class at best

The biggest mistake DVC ever made was the hook p with II. It led to the "penalty fee" and eventually to RCI also allowing variuos and dubious "fees" charged to exchange guests that previously were banned (and correctly so).

Fortunately they came to their senses and realized the "quality" part of II was nothing but a great but inaccurate slogan. II has far more old, converted motel type units and far less overall inventory then RCI. Plus the top resorts/ systems they do have are severely limited in availability due to all the various preferences and other limits imposed by II. Overall RCI is the largest for a reason - they have more to offer.

One of the multiple reasons we had for selling our DVC back in 1997 was the ill-advised unilateral change to II that DVC imposed. We didn't like that change and it opened or eyes to just how much control (virtually 100%) DVC had with no input wanted or listened to from "owners". You really are just a long term lease holder with a serious obligation to whatever fees DVC want to impose and that you will give up for free when the lease runs out. Fortunately we came to our senses before the value dropped but now we would never even consider ownership with DVC or a paid membership with II to be a third class user in their systems.

I don't see any weeks available at DVC resorts through RCI points. They were there a week ago but now they are all gone.
