If I am going to trade out of my resort, I would hope they would offer the same service on an exchange.
There is no resort, not on Disney property, that has bus/boat/monorail service to your resort......running every 10-15 minutes.

I would also like to know the name of the non-WDW resort that provides free transportation for your stay.....Airport transfers, and daily park shuttles that are available every 15 minutes.

Staying on WDW property gives you excess to morning and evening extra magic hours.

The animal Kingdom resort ME bus takes a long time cause it stops at other resorts on the way.

We have stayed at AKV three times and each time we arrived either really, early or really late. So it was one stop, then AKV. When we stayed at Bay Lake at Christmas, there were four stops and it took about 1.5 hours.

No it may not run every 10 to 15 minutes like Disney does, it is on an demand service. As previously mentioned, paying $95 extra a night does not for me warrant such service as a shuttle that runs every 15 minutes.

The $95 is a one time fee. $95 for the entire week/stay, not per night.

Just curious as to which resort you own? I'm always interested in finding resorts that offer shuttle service. I have a DD who loves Disney, but is too young to rent a car, yet too old to hang around with her parents. She's 22.

            Thanks!

And there is part of your misconception. The fee is not for $95 per night, its $95 for the week. Airport transfers alone almost covers that cost. That cost is not per person.

We rarely rent a car and fly into Orlando for every trip. So the $95 fee does not bother me for all the conveniences I get.

Last year we went to Westin St John. It cost me an extra $100 per person by Westin to transfer us from the airport on St Thomas, to the resort.

This year we are heading to Aruba. We just arranged transportation from the airport to the Resort.....$20 per person, there are 15 of us going.

The list goes on and on....Maui, Atlantis, Italy, Venice, Key West....All of them I had to pay for transfers or rent a car. All of them were more then $95.

So if your resort gives you free airport transfers, free shuttle transportation and you are happy....great for you. But I know when I am done at the parks or DTD, the bus/boat/monorail will be there for me without pre-arranging or calling them....on my schedule, not their schedule. I guarantee, I'll be back at my resort, in my room before any off-site resort.

One thing I have learned over the years, there really is no such thing as free. We all pay somewhere along the line.

                Agreed.

BTW, my two favorite DVC's are Boardwalk & Beach Club Villas, because you can walk to Epcot, my favorite Park.....Nothing beats walking out of your room, and being at your favorite park in 5 minutes.

I've also walked to Hollywood Studios from the Boardwalk.

All in all, no matter where you stay on DVC property, it is well worth the $95 charge. The convenience just can't be beat, IMO. Whenever I go to Disney World, DVC is my first choice.......... I can't always get a Disney tho, and sometimes I have to stay at other locations.

I think you have to be 25, and she goes to Disney at least once a year. This year, she's going twice.

Animal Kingdom........If you like animals, it's the place to stay. They also offer a great buffet.

BTW, I haven't stayed there, but I have checked out the units, and they are very nice. They are however a bit further away from the other parks, tho.

This is from our Balcony a few years ago at Animal Kingdom.

Each Savannah is different and the animals are free to roam about as they wish.

This from December....different Savannah of the resort

Our son went a couple times with a friend when he was 21 and again 22. In an odd way it was a relief knowing that he wasn't trying to drive around Orlando or WDW.

Thanks for pointing that out, as that does make a huge difference. However, I still do not know if this applies to trade-in's and exchanges? I am thinking of taking Karen in 2013 (2012 is pretty much booked) so this is an option for me to look into. Your right though, as knowing this I now see the value.

Often when I go we only do Disney a couple of days but the Animal Kingdom and the pictures you showed would be a dream come true for Karen. This would probably be the only location we would be looking for but I imagine it is pretty difficult.

Any one know if any of the smaller / private exchanges every get Animal Kingdom DVC?

Actually, Animal Kingdom is a large resort and availability is fairly common. There are exceptions to the Club level and value rooms (cheaper point use).

I don't know about smaller exchanges, but a 4 day rental from an owner at AKV with a Savannah view studio, Sun-Wed stay in July, would cost about........$570 with no extra fees. The same Sun-Wed stay in October would cost about $480.
