Chris, where can you do this? Which resort? My family would love that.
Here are pics from my last trip "Home" to Kidani.

Animal Kingdom........If you like animals, it's the place to stay. They also offer a great buffet.
BTW, I haven't stayed there, but I have checked out the units, and they are very nice. They are however a bit further away from the other parks, tho.
The rooms are either love it or hate it. There doesn't seem to be any in betweeners out there. I happen to love the dark look of these rooms and the rustic furniture but it's not for everyone.
Here are pics of our room:

Any one know if any of the smaller / private exchanges every get Animal Kingdom DVC?
There are some DVC owners who might do a private exchange.

Nice pics!
DVC owners may do an exchange, but I have found they are even more demanding and severely over value the worth of their points. I gave up exchanging my Atlantis for Disney. You would think people would be all over it....nope. They wanted to trade 150 points for one bedroom in July....lol. I rent those weeks for $3000 every year. Try and trade reservations...nope.
We stayed in a 2BR savanah view at Kidani last year and it was great - similar views to those posted by Christine and T&R and our kids (then 6 and 1) loved being able to see the animals from the balcony.
Even if you don't get the savanah view, there are TONS of spots to see the animals, in our hallway there was a viewing area between the lobby and our room and I assume that it's the same on all floors. So I wouldn't pass on an exchange just because it's not savanah view - you'll still see the animals !
So far we've stayed at Saratoga Springs, Beach Club, and Animal Kingdom, and have an upcoming stay at Bay Lake in May. Each offers a little something different, and we've yet to be disappointed in any of them.

Have a great time, I know you will!
We just had back-to-back trips staying at BLT. It has its pluses and minuses like all the other resorts. But I am positive that you will like it more then hate it.
Atlantis must be THE place to go, as it was what the guy at our SPG presentation tried to sell us on. I can not imagine paying $3000 for a room anywhere. Need to see what I can to to find me some properties I can rent like that!

The MF's are around $1500 for a 1 bedroom and almost $3K for a 2 bedroom at this resort so it's a risky proposition if you don't rent it.
You have to let me know what you secret is, other than experience! I am obviously picking the wron properties then. Any tips for a newbie?
Hopefully one day I'll be able to do the same. Just don't let any of your renters know just how much you are making off of them. Out of curiosity where do you advertise?

They are DVC points, and rentals per point go from anywhere from $10-$14 per point. Member fees range from $4-$6 per point range depending on the resort you own.
Similar to HRA and other high demand properties that attract the high rental values, the upfront investment in these places is very high and I would think most people get these with the thought of using them at least half the time and renting them the rest of the time.
Typically people are willing to pay at the upper end of that range to go through Tom and some others as they are highly respected with tons of references and repeat renters. In addition they can get a little more based on their knowledge of DVC and help they assist WDW newbies in planning their trips.
Thanks for the post Logan, and I realize my time will come. Still relatively new and it is still a process. Surely like many other things I will make my mistakes and learn from those I hope. Plan is to one day be able to contribute the same way as others have and provide a forum for people to rent through me at discounted values. I have already made some changes, but would never try to compete with people like Tom and BocaBum. I realized they are highly respected and that is my goal as well. Finding my market will be the goal for me and hopefully that will be Shell Vacations Club as it seems to be low on the totum poll in these forums.

It took me several years to learn and I am still learning. It takes time and research.
