  • DVC Wilderness Lodge Review Feb 2014

This is such a beautiful resort and it's gotten even better now that they are remodeling the rooms.
I was lucky enough to be the first to occupy one of the remodeled rooms this past weekend.
They did a great job on the remodel and the rooms continue to keep with the Lodge theme.

I used my DVC points and we had a 2 bedroom dedicated unit.
We were on the 4th floor with a view of the pine trees.
The room was ready at check in time.
Initially I was offered a room on the 3rd floor but requested a remodeled room and they
moved us without a problem to the 4th floor that had just been opened again.

Now that the resort is undergoing the refurbishment it will truly be a great deal thru RCI exchanging.
It's definitely going on my exchange radar for next year.

VWL has valet parking for a $15 fee as well as self parking for free.
Wi-fi is free throughout the resort. In room is weak at times. Lobby wifi is now free too.

Breakfast was great at the Whispering Canyon cafe as always.
Of course there is no whispering going on there. If you haven't been yet,
add it to your list of breakfast places for some good Western fun.

It's a bit of a walk from the main building to the timeshare building.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Wilderness Lodge and will definitely be going back.

    Now for some pictures.

I've actually only ever stayed at two Disney resorts - Animal Kingdom on the concierge level, and Wilderness Lodge. We're going back to AKV Kidani this summer. I like it a lot, but I'd pick Wilderness in heartbeat, especially seeing these pictures.

The two resorts have alot of similarities.
Apparently they were designed by the same architect.
AKV Kidani is still my favorite DVC but VWL is now fast becoming my second favorite.
Especially now that it's all prettied up.

I just love how Disney went all out on the theming of these two resorts.
You don't even need to leave the resort to throughly enjoy your stay.

Yes, Wilderness almost seems like it's own world over there. I absolutely love it. The only other resorts that even interest me are the Poly and Beach Club (mainly because of the proximity to the international gate).

I like them all to be honest but I do have favorites.
BWV and BCV are in need of renovations.
Poly will be great once it's built. I think I'll prefer that over VGF.
OKW is great if you have your own car as is AKV.
SSR, well even though it's my home resort is my least favorite.
SSR is still nice but I prefer OKW to SSR.
I can't wait to see the new resort in Fort Wilderness.
                  That should be fun.
