  • Poly coming soon.

It's happening soon according to the Club website.
The Poly is getting ready to start selling us points.
This is seriously oh so tempting to do a small add-on for me.
It will be all studios except for the over the water units.
I can deal with studios and these are souped up studios.

New details announced for Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows!
We hope you are getting as excited as we are about the next Disney Vacation Club Resort, Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows! Today, we released new details about the resort, which will open phase one in 2015. We are making history with the debut of the first Disney Bungalows. These beautiful accommodations are directly on Seven Seas Lagoon and will sleep up to eight guests and feature a plunge pool that offers views of fireworks over Magic Kingdom Park.

Adding to the excitement, we are opening the largest Deluxe Studios at the Walt Disney World Resort. The 360 Deluxe Studios will sleep up to five guests each and have the ability to connect to another Deluxe Studio, the first time we have done this at a Disney Vacation Club Resort. Similar to Disney Cruise Line ships and The Villas at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, the rooms will each have a bathroom separated into two areas, one with a shower and sink and the other with a sink and tub/shower. Plus, they also will have kitchenettes and enhanced storage space for convenience and comfort.

The addition of Disney Vacation Club to this beloved resort is part of an overall renovation of the iconic resort hotel. A re-imagined Great Ceremonial House will welcome guests to a tropical destination where Disney magic meets South Seas hospitality. Also included is an enhanced feature pool and new food and beverage offerings, including Pineapple Lanai where Members and guests can get their favorite Dole Whip treats and Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto, which will feature exotic cocktails and Polynesian-themed small plates. Earlier this year, the resort opened a brand-new children’s activity center called Lilo’s Playhouse.

The first phase of Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows is scheduled to open in 2015. Stay tuned as we continue to share more news in the coming months!

I'm still crying over the loss of the waterfall centerpiece to the Poly lobby.

The bungalows look pretty cool, though, and having a Poly option is a great addition to the club.

Yeah that lobby lost the whole Hawaiian theme but I understand why they did it.
There really wasn't a place to sit and hang out.
Now there will be, even if it's got a mish-mosh of decorations. :roll eyes:

So I toured the studios while there a few weeks ago and they look like they'll be nice but
they tour you thru the SSR preview center which isn't very Poly like.
You don't get to really get a feel for the bungalows and the pictures with the blue water
just can't be unless they are planning to chlorinate the lake. That lake is a lovely
      murky brown green now.

Really? Well, maybe during peak hours. Eldest and I could always find a place with at least a couch and a couple of chairs when we wanted to just hang out.

On the second floor yeah, but not on the first floor.

It's already a great resort. They are just making it better.
Poly was the first Disney hotel I ever stayed at.
It has a special place in my heart for sure.

                  First floors are over rated.

Actually, one of the things I love about Wilderness Lodge is all the nooks on the upper floors, and we always go for the upstairs (quieter) area at the Contemporary as well, so I guess I'm doing a different sort of "hanging out" than that sort of big lobby encourages.

Been a while since I've looked at DVC charts, and I never really pay attention to anything but two bedrooms, but aren't some of those higher than Aulani? I should go check out the Dis board DVC area to see if people are shrieking again.

                      Here is the studio layouts.
There are going to be 360 studios.
The most studios ever for a DVC resort.
I think this is a sign of things to come in other hotel conversions.
These studios cost as much as 1 bedrooms in other resorts.

                        These are the bungalow units.
Only a handful of these and they are going to cost mega points like a year and a half's worth of points for the average owner for just 1.5 nights.

Very few people will be spending their points here, so I foresee Disney renting these
for top dollar while these points owners go elsewhere for longer trips.

We shall see how this all pans out as this is definitely a departure from the traditional DVC resort.

                            Well I did it.
I added on today a 50 point Poly contract.

                            I've always loved the Poly.
It was the first resort I ever stayed at on Disney property and has remained near and dear to my heart.
Reservations open up to Poly owners this Feb. 11th.
