Boardwalk Area at Disney World

We want to go to the Boardwalk area and eat. Is there any parking nearby? Is it free? (We are not staying on Disney).

Do you mean Downtown Disney ( where there is plenty of free parking) or the Boardwalk DVC. Resort?

Not downtown Disney, although we probably will go there also, but the Boardwalk area (at least I think that is what it is called) where there are several restaurants, etc.

Does not specifically mention parking but you would go to the hotel, park, walk thru the property out to the Boardwalk. Chris would know if there was a separate parking area. .

Self parking is free at Boardwalk but if it's full they put you in the overflow parking across the street next to the Hess gas station.
Valet parking is free if you have a handicap placard or a TIW (Tables in Wonderland) card, otherwise I believe it's now $20.

Thanks Chris and Pat. Will have a handicapped card (hopefully if she remembers it). This is info I wanted. Someone gave me a gift certificate to one of the restaurants on the Boardwalk and I'd like to use it.

We always hit the Boardwalk for dinner while in Orlando. Some restaurants take reservations, some do not. If you can make a reservation it is best to do that. We will typically skip dessert and after dinner walk around and grab an ice cream cone. Starting around 6:30 they have street performers scattered around. There is also a nice art gallery/shop to peek in. I'm not sure if you have Disney park tickets or what kind. But, if you have a hopper (or have been into Epcot that day) you can go back via the back entrance and watch illuminations. The back entrance to Epcot is connected to the boardwalk and it is a quick walk or a boat ride over there.

For evening entertainment Jelly Rolls is a lot of fun (dueling piano bar) and they also have a dance hall. Both of which require a cover charge.

Even if you just go for dinner and a quick walk around, it is still a great place. It is probably the most laid back area that Disney has to offer. A place where you can actually put around at your own pace!
