Marti, we just loved Old Key West! What a wonderful place to stay and enjoy Disneyworld. Everything was very clean. The whirlpool bathtub was awesome, not as good as our tub at home, less jets than our Aquatic brand (specifically purchased for our own home after a stay at Hilton Seaworld, the only brand they use is Aquatic) but better than our smaller whirlpool which is
American Standard. The king bed was very comfortable and we slept all night. We were on the 3rd floor, in unit 3833 the entire time. It was nice not having to move to another unit. Rick didn't mind carrying the suitcases two floors to get a quieter spot, but I doubt any floor is noisy there.
I would not pay $9.95 a day for internet access, that is just too steep. Everyone knew where we were and I didn't miss the internet contact at all. I knew TUG and TS4Ms would be here when we got back.
Our foster son, Kimeul (now 27 years old, we get attached ), just checked out of the unit this morning, we have been home for a few days and Kimeul stayed a little longer and needed bus transportation to the airport, so he used our place the last two nights. He will be on the Magical Express at 1:50 for his ride to the airport.
Disney was much busier from September 29th to our last day, October 5th, than it was from the 23rd through the 28th. I would venture a guess that the Food and Wine Festival really does bring in the crowds. We went over to Epcot most nights that last week to watch the bands play. I do love watching the old guys perform their hits of the '70's. It was great fun.
We were tour guides for our foster son's mom and her boyfriend. This was a last-minute trip for them, very last minute. It was literally planned a week out. Kimeul's mom and friend had to fly standby on Southwest from Dallas and take a Friday a.m. flight back, which was all they could get confirmed into. We found them a week at Orlando International Resort Club. The unit they had was just okay, nothing to brag about and too far from Disney, in my opinion. It was fun to show them around, since they had not ever been to Disney before.
Leaving our chimney cleaning business at this time of year was a huge mistake. That is something we regret, leaving my poor stepdad to answer our business calls while we were gone. It was so busy, much busier than previous years. We tried to take some of the problem calls long distance, but he was really just swamped. I guess there will be no more trips during the fall for us. I feel guilty, leaving an old guy to take care of our business while we are gallavanting all over Orlando.
Maybe next December for a fall trip would be better for us, but I would miss the bands. I think I will put in a request for Saratoga Springs for next December. One week is all we could take at that time, but a week is better than nothing and I do look forward to those Christmas lights.
