Just break your DVC contracts into 200 points or less

newbie here. just found this board. i plan on being a dvc ssr owner tomorrow but had a quick question after speed reading threw this thread. it seems like it is a general consensus that trading dvc for II resorts is difficult and not worth it. can someone please explain. i thought dvc had good if not excellent "trading power." someone please respond since the big day is tomorrow and we honestly dont plan on spending every year at wdw!!! thank you.

It's not that it doesn't trade well

The trade power is not the problem, well actually it is. It's too high! It's close to leasing a Cadillac and then running it into a wall to kill a possum. Serious overkill and way too expensive an approach. There are very very few resorts that would be an equal trade into from DVC based on the demand for DVC and both purchase and annual fees. In other words you can get virtually anything II had in trade but pay way too much for it. DVC is best leased for use (you can't own it but you can make a long term commitment to pay the fees) not for trading. In fact unless you plan to use it every year and only in Orlando you are probably better off to trade in using a highly tradable system like Marriott or just rent the time you need. It's much cheaper and you aren't committed to some of the highest the annual fees in the industry that way.
