Does anyone know what the expiration date will be?

Will the Animal Kingdom units have the same 2054 expiration date as Saratoga, or will they increase the dating for the new units?

It has not been offically determined. Rumor on the disboard says it'll have 50 years. But its just a rumor. The actually sales are suppose to start in the spring. The first phase is suppose to be completed in the fall.

2054 or 2057 or 2058....relatively speaking, it's all the same thing!

I've always been curious...what are the maintenance fees like on Disney properties?

The lowest is SSR at $4.12 per point

                AKL is $4.62

DVC is NOT a bargain timeshare, but if you want to be onsite, they offer a great experience.

Buying resale will only save about 10-15% off buying directly from Disney. The best valuse are OKW or SSR. I would go for SSR as they have an additional 13 years usage before they expire.

All DVC properties are RTU for 50 years...then "poof" just like magic they dissapear and you own nothing. But at least there will not be any major assessments along the way!

I appreciate you letting me know. I hadn't heard about this as I have my nose in a book all the time.
It wasn't old news to me and I thank you. Must have gotten by me and I'm interested in a DVC purchase.

Note that for existing DVC members, the price is $101 with an $8 discount to bring the net price to $93. However, you have to buy a minimum of 100 points to get the discount.

Can anyone verify that the 1BR units will have 2 bathrooms?

The one bedrooms in the new Kidani Village construction (opening in 2009, I believe) will have the two bathrooms. The room conversions in the existing lodge will not. Here is a link to the room layout on the official Disney DVC site:

Just got back and saw the sample rooms. Pretty cool, especially the savannah view. I also liked how the 1 bedroom there sleeps five, because there is a pullout double and a pullout single. But the table only seats four, go figure. The deal for non-members is: full 2007 points for three months of maintenance (Oct-Dec), and either $8/point discount or an extra year's points. The deal for SSR was a little sweeter: 2006 points for free, and either $10/point discount or an extra year's points. I think the extra year's points had to be used within 7 months for both properties.

Thanks Arlene.....I wonder how long it will be, before they start showing up in II. I'm sure the demand is going to be extremely high.

Did they give you a definite completion date?

You like the Mouse? I'm curious why you'd want to buy DVC Beags. Me, I'm a Universal gal and would love to see themed resorts near their parks. To exchange in of course...or perhaps to buy resale.

I have wondered why Universal has not copied Disney with a timeshare business. It is a good idea. I wonder if the resale value would hold and would not purchase myself, for that reason alone.

I know many people who prefer Universal over Disney. I am not one of them because roller coasters are not fun for me. I will ride Back to the Future once every trip, but that is wild as it gets. Love Spiderman and MIB: Alien Attack. Those are actually my two favorite rides of all of the parks.
